I think that's a lot for Buffalo, but it's pretty reasonable considering their prospect depth at forward and Joker likely not being a major piece after this contract.

Side note - Idk if this is an accurate comp bc i havent watched much of Chychrun in the NHL.. but he kinda reminds me of Bogosian early on in his career. He has all the potential in the world but early injury bug throws a question mark in everything

I agree, and I don't know that we want to pay a RHD 2 pair the money he's going to want? We need someone in the $3-4 mill range, w/ our main money going to Dahlin and Power.

IMO tho, the good thing about Chychrun is his deal lasts through those two big extensions. In 3 years we can either keep him as a rental, or move him. $4.6 mill is okay in terms of our guys we need to keep - unless BUF is trying to add $8-9 mill more in outside contracts
