Surprisingly, this is the first I've seen too much coming back in a Nyquist trade. I think if that were to go through, Toronto would add a bad contract and drop Hollowell. This will also need to happen after the Korpisalo trade.

The Vegas trade is accepted even with it being next year's 3rd rounder. Any missed value is easily covered by an okay center prospect with good team chemistry with Brisson who has former teammates from his UM days. This is a really nice trade and I appreciate the finer details on this one. I think the Jackets could add a late rounder.

Texier is not available for anything less than a 1st rounder and even then I don't think he gets traded until he returns from the mental health program. I really like Jordan Greenway, but this trade will need different assets on the Jackets side.

Minnesota isn't the one whose adding here. A cap dump G who they don't need. A player who has no value and hasn't played all year!

I have pondered the players that might/should be moving at the TDL for the Jackets.
It seems that Korpisalo is the only stabilizing factor right now in the net for the Jackets.
Elvis really is just a shell of his former self prior to Kivleniek's accidental death.
I think long term Jackets will look to either buy Elvis out or trade him for a fresh start somewhere else if he cannot get his game back to form in the next year or so.
They just might want to keep Korpi and fill in from there with Tarasov or another depth G.

An Elvis buyout is pretty heavy with this length at just short of 2 mil average over 8 years. The problem is he just needs to tone down the aggressiveness. Really no point in holding 3 Gs but Korpi does have value and though he's the better of the two right now its easier to trade him off than Elvis as right now you're lucky to get future considerations for him. Maybe when we get some of our defensive prospects up and shift away from this modified zone defense where are goalies get pelted all game long its going to look better in a year for two for Elvis but at this point..

I couldn't agree more with the teams defensive style setup, it's the head coach that's to blame and I really hope he's let go at seasons end. Jarmo has to find someone more capable, brad Larsen just doesn't have what it takes...

The Wild don't need another mediocre goaltender and Texier isn't even in the NHL right now so why is Minnesota adding the higher pick to the best asset in the deal?

Yeah Elvis' aggressive game is not at all compatible with this zone style defense. Elvis does best when he can challenge the opposition with his athletism but when he's constantly getting weared down by taking shot after shot that advantage goes away then he's worse than a traditional goalie like Korpi/Tarasov where the game comes to them. While he does get way too emotional and that leads to issues to (that's my major issue with the guy...just keep calm even after a bad series you got this man!) but once he gets a more experienced D in front of him he SHOULD look better.
