Colorado isn't giving up Newhook for a rental, And Colorado can't afford to give Horvat between $8,000,000 to $9,000,000 per which is around his asking price.

the money doesn't workout for colorado to get horvat unless the cap goes up 8 mil next year.
I wouldn't mind bringing in schenn, and rotating him and johnson on the bottom pair, just gives us that extra depth. with that being said i think they move a 4th max for him.
I do think we need a new 4C if helm is done, but i don't think bonino brings a similar style to helm or fits into our system as well, there are better options for that position.
I like brassard, you can probily just move a 5th for him and keep macdonald who is solid depth and can play forward or d.

As an Avs fan I would give up Newhook for Horvat even only for 1 year ( Cup or bust)

You can have Brassard just for picks, Sens don't need more AHL players filling up their roster spots.

Also as an Avs fan, I would not. Reports from Vancouver seem to indicate that the ask is higher than Newhook alone.

Adding Horvat makes the Avs a more dangerous team. Bonino, Brassard, Schenn don’t move the needle much.

As an Avs fan, I'm glad that you're also just an Avs fan and not the GM, lol. Newhook is not a guy you give up for a rental, and especially for a team that has no prospects that can replace him or his role going forward.

Swap him out in favor of Olausson and then maybe it's more realistic. I personally don't think Colorado will meet the asking price for a trade or his next deal. Horvat picked a nice time to have an outlier of a season.

I’ll do you one better, on a healthy Avs they don’t move the needle period. Brassard already didn’t work in COL, Schenn is a 7th dman, and who does Bonino replace in the lineup.

I agree. RN the Avs can consider re-upping one of: Newhook, Compher, or Rodrigues. It would hurt this seasons roster to not have Newhook, but Horvat certainly makes up for it. Maybe you add Nyquist too. And, if Newhook leaves, that opens a sport next yr for Olausson or Foudy.
