Created by: Big_Rock_Brock
Team: 2022-23 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 23, 2023
Published: Jan. 23, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This year is pretty much a lost cause, the Islanders pretty much have no choice but to start building for the next 1-3 years because by then whatever window they even have left will be slammed shut. They either have to massively retool NOW or blow it up.

Kings don't have a need to dump Petersen, and they certainly aren't using a 1st to do so regardless of what's coming back. He's on a "buyout friendly" contract, in that once they get through next year his buyout has minimal effect on the cap for them. In addition, their players that will require raises is offset by the fact that Quick (and other contracts) come off the book at the end of the year. So, the Kings are going to give Petersen a chance to right the ship, as it were, well before they do something drastic like this. Even if that means playing him in the AHL all of next year, as well.

LA declines. Varlamov rental is not worth a 1st, and the Kings have no need to dump Petersen's contract.

Highly doubt the Wild are taking on a player with any term past this year with their cap situation, unless of course the player is on a league minimum deal or something close.

Kings have no need to "get rid of Petersen," ESPECIALLY on those ridiculously adverse terms.
