Assuming ARI 2023 1st is 4OA, would you use Chychrun to trade up to 1OA? Using Anaheim as a stand in here. If not, where is the cutoff point where this becomes worthwhile.

Noone is going to trade the 1OA this year, just like Edmonton declined to trade the 1OA (McDavid) in 2015. Teams will never pass up on a superstar or generational talent even to fill a win now glaring need. Any team in the 1OA sweepstakes is not in win now mode anyway so the point is moot.

To answer your question - 100% worth it but not going to happen.

as a half-assed ARZ fan I would say yes it would be worth it but I don't expect the team who has the 1OA to trade it away

Idk but whoever lands the 1st overall pick likely isn't interested in trading down so does is it really worth questioning.

I assume Arizona would do this. Just look at all the picks they've got, they'll get a couple decent hits in the next few years. But no decent hit will compare to a potential generational talent.
