ROUND 1TEAMORIGINALPLAYERDETAILS
1Logo of the Buffalo Sabres-Still the top pick imo, BUF goes for the guy that'll line up with Dahlin to create an unstoppable top four
2Logo of the Seattle Kraken-
Shane Wright
If SEA goes with a centre, I think it's probably Shane Wright. He was hyped up for so long that it's not fair to have him below Beniers imo. They'll both make an elite 1-2 combo in SEA irl... but we'll have to see who becomes the better player (+2)
3Logo of the Anaheim Ducks-Since Beniers is still available, you gotta think they go for him
4Logo of the New Jersey Devils-NJD has their centre core set with JHughes, Hischier, Mercer. They don't need to take McTavish or Cooley. LHughes is still the pick here imo
5Logo of the Columbus Blue Jackets-
Logan Cooley
Blue Jackets still need that top line centre. It's difficult to choose between McTavish, Johnson, and Cooley... but I think the pick is Cooley by a slim margin (-2)
6Logo of the Detroit Red Wings-Red Wings have Seider on the right... but no one on the left. They also don't have a long-term 2C to take over after Copp. It's difficult, but I think the pick here is McTavish instead of Edvinsson
7Logo of the San Jose Sharks-The choice between Eklund and Johnson is tricky, but I still think it's Eklund. Sharks are taking a C regardless, because Hertl and Couture are both aging.
8Logo of the Los Angeles Kings-
David Jiricek
Evidently the Kings need a right shot defenseman, but I don't think that Clarke is the choice here if Jiricek and Nemec are still available. Both have been stellar, but I have to give the edge to Jiricek. (-2)
9Logo of the Arizona CoyotesLogo of the Vancouver Canucks
Juraj Slafkovsky
This is where the IRL first overall pick of 2022 will fall to, in my eyes. Keller plays the right, Maccelli and Slafkovsky can play the left. (-8)
10Logo of the Ottawa Senators-
Simon Nemec
Anyone is better than Tyler Boucher here. Sens have Stutzle, Norris, and Pinto in their centre ranks, so there's no reason to believe they need a centre. They have Sanderson and Chabot at left defense. Therefore, the only correct pick has to be a right shot dman. Clarke is the 3rd best right shot defense in this mixed draft. Simon Nemec, you are an Ottawa Senator. (-8)
11Logo of the Arizona Coyotes-
Draft Pick Forfeited
12Logo of the Columbus Blue JacketsLogo of the Chicago BlackhawksBlue Jackets should theoretically be going for a right shot defenseman, because of the thinness on their right side without Jiricek. Ceulemans won't cut it as a top-end defenseman. So they take the 3rd best RD in the draft in Brandt Clarke.
13Logo of the Calgary Flames-Kadri is a nice guy to have as your second line centre, but he's gonna age eventually. Lindholm's contract is also ending soon. Why not have a young guy to slot into a top six position by the time that happens?
14Logo of the Buffalo SabresLogo of the Philadelphia FlyersRealistically, if the Sabres already have Power, Dahlin, and Samuelsson as 3/4 of their future top four, they shouldn't go for another left shot. However, one can only dream of a top four finished up by Edvinsson. Power-Dahlin, Edvinsson-Samuelsson. Wow.
15Logo of the Detroit Red WingsLogo of the Dallas Stars
Marco Kasper
Stevie Y makes another big brain pick here, as he usually does, taking Kasper (just like IRL). He'll round out the future top six with Larkin and McTavish at centre (-7)
16Logo of the New York Rangers-Instead of going with another left winger in Othmann, the Rangers elect to go with a player who plays a less crowded position in Guenther, who plays the opposite wing.
17Logo of the St. Louis Blues-
Cutter Gauthier
The Blues just have to take the best possible player here. Gauthier went 5th in 2022, so it really only makes sense if he goes to the Blues. Worst case scenario, they use him as a trade chip to increase their everlasting contention. (-12)
18Logo of the Winnipeg Jets-Scheifele is aging, and Dubois is probably going to want out (if he doesn't, Habs fans will riot lol). They need a centre to hold down the fort with Perfetti. Sillinger seems like the correct, and only, option
19Logo of the Nashville Predators-
Kevin Korchinski
It'd be useful for NSH to have someone behind an aging Josi and Ekholm to take over, at least as the second defenseman. Svechkov was a random pick (-12)
20Logo of the Minnesota WildLogo of the Edmonton Oilers
Matthew Savoie
If there's a possible future top six centre available here, the Wild have to take it. They have Rossi and JEE, but Rossi's ceiling is decreasing by the year. If they get Savoie, he might go on a similar trajectory, because he's also a small player, but it's a risk worth taking imo (-11)
21Logo of the Boston Bruins-
Pavel Mintyukov
A good left shot defenseman would be useful for the Bruins, even if he's a few years away. They do have Grzelcyk and Lindholm, but they're gonna need replacements for both eventually. Mintyukov will be one (-11)
22Logo of the Edmonton OilersLogo of the Minnesota WildSince IRL, the Oilers took Bourgault, there's no reason to think that they could go with Johnston instead. He's NHL ready, which is extremely useful for them, as they can play Nuge in the top six and have Johnston play 3C.
23Logo of the Dallas StarsLogo of the Washington Capitals
Conor Geekie
Stars, having been robbed of Johnston, probably go with Geekie here, as he's a centre with high upside. They have Hintz as the top line centre, Stankoven likely as the third, and Bourque maybe on the wing if he picks his game up. Geekie would slot well as the second fiddle (-12)
24Logo of the Florida Panthers-Panthers are in win-now mode. They just have to go with the best guy available, and that's Coronato
25Logo of the Columbus Blue JacketsLogo of the Toronto Maple Leafs
Denton Mateychuk
Blue Jackets bolster their left side by taking Mateychuk. He'll be a long-term second-pair guy who might shift to first in case of an injury (-13)
26Logo of the Minnesota WildLogo of the Pittsburgh Penguins
Frank Nazar
I think the Wild go with another guy who can play centre, just in case both Rossi and Savoie don't pan out as top six guys. They have Nazar and JEE as their top six centres, which isn't ideal but it's still something (-13)
27Logo of the Nashville PredatorsLogo of the Carolina Hurricanes
Joakim Kemell
The Preds go with a good goal scorer in Kemell, who they also choose IRL. He seems like the right pick because the Preds need a goal scorer like him... and even though he might be a few years away, he'll help them out (-10)
28Logo of the Colorado Avalanche-Although he was seen as an odd pick at the draft, Rosen seems to be the pick here for Colorado. He might be a couple years away, but he'll be a good playmaker for the middle six when he's up and ready. Besides, the top six is basically set in stone for a long time.
29Logo of the New Jersey DevilsLogo of the New York Islanders
Lian Bichsel
The Devils elect to bolster their left side with size in Lian Bichsel. With Hughes and Siegenthaler on the left, Bichsel will probably only play third pair, but he might play second if Hughes shifts to the right (which seems unlikely). Worst case scenario, he gets traded in a package (-11)
30Logo of the Vegas Golden Knights-Vegas' goalie pipeline is thin outside of Thompson. They elect to go with Wallstedt, who'll bolster that pipeline. He could become, at the very least, a tandem goalie with Thompson.
31Logo of the Montreal Canadiens-Instead of making the Mailloux pick here, the Canadiens elect to make a pick at the low-depth wings, and go for Joshua Roy's teammate Brennan Othmann. He'll solidify their middle six corps in the future, and will have existing chemistry with some of the players.
32Logo of the Chicago BlackhawksLogo of the Tampa Bay Lightning
Rutger McGroarty
Blackhawks elect to go with a winger here - a position at which they are extremely depleted in. McGroarty will slot in the middle six in the future and should fit nicely alongside Reichel (-18)

As a blues fan I'd rather them take Jimmy Snuggerud who they took with the 23rd in the 2022 draft. Currently tied with Cooley with the most points on his NCAA team. Was 3rd in scoring at the WJC only behind Bedard and Cooley

Slafkovsky is being bullied so much for being the only NHLer from the 2022 draft and cause he wasn’t performing the best, he’s lower than players who are playing in way lower caliber
