Next Year Run at Horvat

Team: 2023-24 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 23, 2023
Published: Jan. 23, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I know, this looks crazy, but it's the move I'd make for a run at Horvat (if he doesn't sign in VAN before deadline or traded to some team who can keep him long term also); Get him at Gaudreau's numbers, 8 years, bring in Bunting; You now have two top 10 picks, plus Horvat, Suzuki long term at center; With Caufield for 8 years... This provides a hard hitting team on the first two lines, I'm a bit over the projected 83.5M$ cap hit, but I'm expecting Gally tp be on and off all season long again. He's been playing way too hard for so many years, his body is messed up. So habs would potentially save a good chunk there or move out Armia somehwere for not much if need be.

Trades
1.
MTL
  1. 2024 2nd round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
I'm thinking that Edmundson would be traded at the 22-23 deadline to a cup contender (and he would move his NMC to get that chance).. Putting ARZ here for no reason
ARI
  1. Edmundson, Joel
Additional Details:
Would probably get a 2nd round pick from the deadline.
2.
MTL
  1. 2024 5th round pick (ARI)
Additional Details:
Trading to ARX as I think Wideman may be traded in the 2023 deadline to some other team; Should not get much for him, maybe a 5th or higher..
3.
MTL
  1. 2024 7th round pick (ARI)
Additional Details:
ARZ for a trade before the season anywhere for a 7th rnd pick if necessary

Zero chance of Horvat signing with Montreal, And fat chance he even makes it to free agency. He will be traded to a team and extended. And Rick Dhaliwal pretty much says that Boston and Detroit are the front runners on Horvat.

I think this is pretty bad overall. Why would a rebuilding team lock themselves into cap hell with a center they don't need, a winger that is literally made by Auston Matthews, and an LD that takes mins away from our young three and sucked while he was here two years ago

And we have someone who doesn't read the description of the team here. I specifically said IF he gets to UFA, IF they don't trade him prior.. And there is never zero chance a player doesn't sign with a team who'll pay the price the player is worth.

I guess you also missed most other articles saying that while Boston are trying, they have very little cap space for nest year given Pastrnak will also most liekly be asking for the 9 to 10m$ per year range.. Detroit will most likely keep Larkin and while they have more cap space, they'll need it to sign more than half a team...

So yeah, he may get traded and signed long term, but as it was clearly explained above, this is the what if he reaches UFA.. But thanks..

He's from London Ontario which is about 400 miles from Montreal. he wants to play close to home and Detroit is only 90 minutes away. plus Detroit is getting closer to being out of their rebuild while Montreal is just beginning their. he's not leaving one bad team in Vancouver for even a worse team in Montreal. Plus Detroit would easily outbid Montreal for his services. Montreal needs to keep adding quality players through the draft not going after players like Horvat. And yes i read your description and he's still not signing with Montreal.

Well, if we go bu your little logic, then this whole website could be taken down since 99% of everything that is put here won’t happen..

You understand the website and why it’s here??

Actually he and Friedman mentioned Detroit, Boston, Islanders and Seattle. But it's a good deal for both teams. Lou can still offer Bo a 7 year deal. I'm just happy he didn't wind up in Boston.

Isles won that trade. Canucks should have gotten more. The funniest part is that if Bo doesnt work out the next month, Lou can get more for Bo at the TDL!
Common Canucks L
Now they'll have to retain to even get rid of Boeser! What an absolutely horrid and needless contract this Summer
