Two average prospects and a late 1st. Pretty easy nope there.

Washington’s going to need a lot more to deal TvR since they have no reason to trade him. I think they’ll be much happier keeping a cheap 2-3RD (currently playing 1st pair minutes) than dealing him for two whatever picks.

Really? Gus is a former 2nd round pick that has shown a lot potential although limited at the NHL level due to inj and depth and a 2nd is pretty damn good

If you are waiting for a top-10 pick, it's not going to happen. Heinola is an NHL-ready D at the age of 21 and Chibrikov is going to be a middle 6 shooter that can play the PP. You are over valuing Meier.

EF says a 2nd or 3rd so a 2nd and a young potential 3C is probably the best you will get.

Yeah. I don't see Gus being much more than a decent 4th liner. You can cite that he is a former 2nd rounder, but he isn't worth anything close to a 2nd round pick at the moment. Then there is the 2nd round pick, which is fine, but it's also in 2025. So, we have a B prospect at best, and a 2nd round pick 2 years from now for Jonathan Toews. I guess it is possible, but I would be pretty underwhelmed and disappointed if this is how a Toews trade turns out.

Far too much from Winnipeg for rentals. It's extremely unlikely any of Winnipeg's 1st, Heinola, Chibrikov and Gustafsson are in play for rentals.

Well, EF says that is "what he heard from some NHL team execs". So, that wasn't even his own speculation, it was second hand speculation. Also, I'd be willing to bet those execs were talking about 2023 picks. Which would mean at least another 2 years from the 2025 draft before we see that pick even make an attempt at the NHL roster. That is 4 years of waiting for a big old maybe. I doubt CHI will accept that trade as it stands. If they did accept a 2025 pick for him, they would probably want conditions for the pick upgrading to a first. Gus isn't a potential 3C, not in CHI and probably not anywhere. I'd certainly be willing to buy that he will have a successful career as a 4th liner and maybe float around the lineup once in a while, but that is about it.

You want a UFA right handed defenseman, currently on pace to break his career highs in offensive stats, is fantastic in his own end, and is only making $950,000. And you're gonna give up TWO fifths for that!?!? What an absolute steal for Washington!!! Never mind the fact that the Caps are in a playoff hunt, are most likely missing their top RHD for the rest of the season, and are nearly giving TVR top line minutes right now, those two fifths are too damn good to pass up!

In other words, that TVR trade sucks.
