Gee, how do the Sabres pay for Larkin, Bertuzzi and Thompson next year? Crazy bad trade for the Sabres to give up assets for UFAs

Maybe if your read it. They are resigned.
They have 20m in cap space now, not including 5m ltir. They have 15m coming off the books this summer. Even with this trade they have 9m cap space and 6m ltir. The contracts only add 6-7m cap hits for next year.

Not to hard to find this out. Geez..........

Why would they be resigned? They are UFAs, free to sign with any team. Seems like a lot off assets to trade, and just hope the players are resigned.

Määttä is worth a 2nd round pick by himself and Asplund is not a good fit for Detroit as we already have too many left wingers. Either up the pick for Määttä to a 2nd in '23 or change the player to someone other than Asplund (Rosén would be ideal for us).

The Larkin and Bert deals are good for Detroit and would be accepted unless they are resigned.

Olli Maatta > Asplund+2025 3rd round pick.

Dylan Larkin with 8x9.0m extension > Cozens+Kulich+2023 PHI 2nd round pick.

Tyler Bertuzzi with 6x6m extension < Peterka+Buffalo's 2023 1st round pick.

This dudes a Troll and doesn't know value.

In what world?

I'd much rather have 3 assets than one. Why would we give up 2 1sts and a 2nd for 1st? Especially since Cozens was drafted at #7OA and Larkin at #15OA.

Cozens and Larkin are basically having the same season and Cozens is only 21 years old.

BUF doesn't want Larkin on a contract that takes him to age 34, when they could just as easily have Cozens for that price, during his prime, plus a blue chip prospect in Kulich + a good 2nd + more cap space (as Kulich is on an ELC).

Larkin is also almost 5 years older than cozens and cozens has way more room to grow so thank you for proving that he's worth more.

Yea, we're doing just fine with our younger ascending players.

Why would we trade for older, more expensive players?

Dear crazy Detroit fan,
No thank you. Even if that trade was equal value, it doesn’t make sense for the Sabres.
That trade doesn’t make us Cup Contenders, so it doesn’t make sense to bring in older & more expensive players that might not even be all that much better- or better at all

And we wouldn’t do the VAN trade either imo

I'm a wings fan and even I think buffalo is over paying. Your making it too complicated, you want Larkin offer cozens and some stuff and that's that.

Setting aside, (while many will disagree with me), the fact is I would rather have Cozens over Larkin and Peterka over Bertuzzi this is beyond horrible for Buffalo.
All of the Detroit assets could walk away from Buffalo at the end of the year, while Cozens and Peterka will under contract for the next eight.

Clearly you are a Wings fan. 0 chance we trade Cozens for Larkin 1 for 1, as Cozens is as good as Larkin now and isn't a UFA. Furthermore, adding Peterka, Kulich, and all those picks for other pieces we have no need for just doesn't make sense. Also the gall to have Larkin as #1 C over Tage Thompson is additionally hilarious
