Not really. It's just a low first and some fluff. Plus they lost Mikkola.
Arguably Toronto paid more for Nick f*cking Foligno than Rags did for Tarasenko.
We paid a 1st and 4th for him and another 4th for more retention and got Noesen. Rangers paid 1st + 4th + Kravstov so don't know where u got that idea lul as we didn't give up a prospect who was taken 9th OA
He was taken out well still Rangers threw in stuff we didn't lul
As giving up Hunter meant they paid more
Probs Blais is for Mikolla
Blais for Mikkola is a wash. That leaves 1st, 4th and Skinner. Skinner is a ECHL player, worth nothing. Leafs paid 1st+4th+another 4th to double retain Foligno with SJ and got Noesen who played a grand total of one game for the Leafs.
Yes, I think Leafs ended up paying more for Foligno than Rags paid for Tarasenko.

Nope
As if u go into details we gave the 25th OA pick and a 4th. Other 4tg let's be honest was for Noesen and some ret.wish we could have kept him as man Noesen be doing well in Carolina . Rangers gave up the either the 23 OA or 25 OA and a 4th. So it's basically the same but under the circumstances with no COVID and Seattle coming teams were willing to pay more back then. So unless Rangers win the cup picks gonna be around the same
Either way good trade for them but if we were still in COVID times and had an expansion draft coming got a feeling it would cost more
Also watch Blais start playing well with his old team lul as that just seems to be the way now

Imo its about the same but Leafs overpaid, whereas NYR didnt

Tbf every playoff team trading a first for a rental will do it assuming that the pick will be as low as possible, since they're aiming for the cup. We know the pick ended up being 25th, but during the day the trade went through they did not, similar to how we don't know what will these picks be that got dealt now.
If Meier doesn’t get back Holtz + 2023 1st + Casey/Walsh/Mukh I’m gonna be pissed. Especially if Meier comes extended. That won’t bode well for wingers in the league including Debrincat and others .

Tbf we already caught a bit of a taste of the value of such asset when DeBrincat was dealt first time during last year's draft.
He hasn't had that good of a season that his value would be dramatically increasing now, should OTT be trading him in the offseason.

Not dramatically increasing . But if ottawa ever moved him, it should be a hockey trade, not a 1st round pick and a B prospect. Get back a top 4RD in return

In general I will admit we paid more than we should of based on the results. If Foligno was healthy and we won a round or so I wouldnt of cared but **** happens
Either way it was a lesson in trades as the following year we paid less for Gio than what we saw Florida pay for Chiarot

First mistake was assuming they'd have success in the playoff's
PS: I say this an I like Toronto's chances this year lmao
I situate it on circumstances as man I wish we didn't have a pandemic and expansion draft that year but hey we need new teams
With no pandemic and expansion teams prices now are normalized
Anyways wonder whose next
Let’s not kid ourselves here, the leafs way overpaid for Foligno. Rangers payed a similar amount to get Tarasenko who is much better than Foligno. Good deal for them
