Matt Roy I could add to the list as well. Interesting report out today that LA could be interested in a RD for Eller trade, or that they are at least interested in Eller.

couldn't it also be Walker for Eller?

Roy is who I’d be looking for.

100%. I think Roy is the more likely of the two on his way out due to the larger cap hit, but either would be good options for predicting trades. Roy also seems to potentially fit Washington better than Walker.

I think Roy would be a bit more value than Eller though. WSH might have to give up Eller as well as a pick (maybe around a 4th) to get Roy.

Seems realistic. I think Washington may also consider retaining a small amount of salary to get Eller and Roy to matching cap hits, to potentially bring down the price of whatever pick they need to throw in.

What about Roy for Eller (15% Retained) and a 2024 5th?

I'd be more than happy with that, though I think retention will be at 10% as it would make Eller and Roy's contracts exactly equal.

You're right.

WSH: Matt Roy
LAK: Lars Eller (10%) and 2023 5th

Should I post it in the trade machine?

Go ahead, I'm interested to see the opinion of Kings fans. I have a feeling they may want a higher pick for Roy, but I don't know if they'll get it.

Done. It fits just right into the Kings' cap situation.

If devils land Meier and extend him do you think they will trade bratt

No, extending Bratt is likely the priority. Every other move is likely secondary.

But the problem the Devils have is that the only window to get Meier may be before deadline. So if Devils acquire and extend Meier, they probably have to offer Bratt similar deal. If they ink Timo to $9m and then offer Bratt $7m, he would just take his qualifying offer over the summer and become UFA in 2024.

It’s much cleaner to add a player under contract. Unless they can get Meier to sign under $8m.

I asked in the previous thread

We all see the same lists of guys who are likely to be traded at deadline (Horvat, Toews, Tarasenko, etc).

But if you had to pick one unexpected player who could be traded before deadline, who would it be?

And here were the answers thus far...

Brian Dumoulin
Adam Henrique
Alexander Wennberg
Pierre-Luc Dubois
Jesse Puljujarvi
John Marino

...any additions?

Outside of the big names, I could see a couple of these guys in play

Max Jones (ANA)
Jakub Vrana (DET)
Josh Brown (ARI)
Sam Lafferty (CHI)
Matt Nieto (SJS)
Oscar Sundqvist (DET)
Emil Bemstrom (CLB)

I'm interested to see what Bratt's next contract will look like. Maybe Kevin Fiala is a good comp. After posting 85 points in 82 games last season, he signed for $7.875M AAV for 7 years. Bratt is on pace for similar numbers. I'm guessing 8x8 would be the max. Meier will undoubtedly be more expensive. Regardless, it's gonna be a very busy summer for the Devils. They only have 11 current roster players signed through next season, including John Marino (IR). Assuming Meier is available at the TDL, I think he's the one big name player the Devils would consider targeting. I'd also be interested in hearing from other Devils fans as to how much they'd be willing to spend on Meier. Is he worth Holtz, 2023 1st Rounder, and a prospect? More?

On Bratt contract - sounds about right to me. Although I am not sure why Meier gets more than Bratt, let alone, “undoubtedly” gets more than Bratt.

Last 3 seasons
Meier: 154 pts in 179 GP (0.86 ppg)
Bratt: 149 pts in 168 GP (0.89 ppg)

Last 2
Meier: 123 pts in 125 GP (0.98 ppg)
Bratt: 119 pts in 122 GP (0.98 ppg)

This year
Meier: 47 pts in 48 GP (0.98 ppg)
Bratt: 46 pts in 46 GP (1.00 ppg)

Very similar. Bratt is two years younger and is the bird-in-hand. He should be the priority. And if both hit free agency, would probably get similar contract as Meier. If not more.

I think NJD have plenty of assets to move. We don’t have to include Holtz (who still has 2+ years on ELC and is out-producing Meier at similar age). We have to be patient with him. Will be worth it in the end.

NYI have lost 9 of 10 with a -18 goal differential in the process. Matt Barzal went 7 games w/o a point before notching a meaningless assist last night. Maybe Barry Trotz wasn't the problem.

Meier has size and physicality. I. think that's worth an extra $1M AAV.

Just as Fiala's contract (but also Hintz and Forsberg) make for a good comparable to what Meier and Bratt may get this summer, the return that Fiala got the Wild is probably the most valid return the Devils (or any other team) should have to give up to pry him out of San Jose, ie pick #19 in 2022 + Brock Faber.

Holtz + Devils 2023 2nd should nothing if not equivalent value to the Fiala return.
Additionally, given that Bahl, Okhotiuk and Walsh all lose their waiver exemption for the 23/24 season, that there's only a roster spot for one of the three (maybe two) and that they'd most likely get claimed on waivers one of them could be added to the Sharks to put the overall value over that of the Fiala return.

I'm very interested to see what happens with Vrana. I don't see him getting dealt until he shows the league he's back to form. Hopefully, his personal issues are resolved, b/c his talent is real. But right now, he has negative trade value.

I'm hoping so much that Seattle takes the playoff spot.

Just to cause someone of the big ones in Pacific to drop out. I wanna see chaos.

Vrana’s days with the Detroit Red Wings are numbered. He gets traded or they may even buy him out this summer.

Seattle is a virtual lock. They've already passed Vegas in points %. I think the top 3 looks like: EDM, SEA, LAK in no particular order. Vegas is dipping.
