Only this Blues team could get 34 saves from Binnington (including a good half dozen doozies), kill off six penalties (including a double minor and one with some 5v3), score two goals by bottom 6 forwards to lead by two in the 3rd... and end up losing by two.

Also, Leddy needs to sit. Now. He's shambolic.

And it was against a team that got shut out by the f*cking flyers on Saturday

They dont need to be u dont get it

If they are out by March 2nd Lou could potentially trade Horvat and get more back

With the new details and potential for an extension Lou could walk out of the deadline with a potential better return than what he paid

And if his pick is 12 OA he keeps it

Now losing Raty's gonna hurt but if SEA goes hey give u Wright for 8 years of Horvat hes taking a W to go

Basically 5D chess rn

In 2013-14, it was Thomas Vanek & Matt Moulson

In October, NYI sent fan-favorite 3-time 30-goal scorer Matt Moulson, 1st, 2nd to Buffalo for Vanek (both were rentals).

By the deadline, both teams were in last place.

Moulson was flipped at deadline to Minnesota for two 2nds

Vanek played with Tavares and put up a point-per-game and was flipped to Montreal for a 2nd.

(NYI GM was Garth Snow).

Knowing Lou if hes out and decides to trade Horvat hes either gonna break even on the trade or get a better return as if he gets Bo to agree to an extension and trade him and retains on the current deal he arguably could get more as 2mill is enticing for teams right up against the cap.

Also the Scandella trade would be a better example as MTL paid like a 4th and got a 2nd + 4th from St. Louis at the TDL the same year

But in general with the type of GM Lou is I could see him getting a better return from a team like SEA if NYI are out

NYI has 12 games before deadline. I don’t think the window is long enough.

Has 5 months to get him to agree to extension.

U seem to underestimate Lou's ability to get deals done. The man got Pageau extended a day after trading and within 2 days got Freddie signed after trading

He will most likely have Horvat extended before March 3rd if need be

People saying that Isles win the trade if Horvat signs an extension are the same people who say Miller is a negative asset because he signed an extension lol

The thing with Lou though is he really doesnt panic

This move one could argue is him playing 5D chess

As if he walks out with a bigger haul for Horvat in the event NYI arent in a playoff position come March 3rd god help Allvein and JR. Or heck if Bo extends and he helps them win a cup or two then Isles fans will just be like worth it like Blues fans were with ROR for Thompson

Lou essentially trade Bo Horvat for Corey Schneider 10 years ago. Today, both Bo Horvat and Corey Schneider are in the Isles organization. Won the trade 10 years later

Hey everyone,

The GM Game here on CF has a recently opened GM spot, and we need someone to fill it. We would like to expand and get more CF users since it is a great game and I'm sure many of you would enjoy being part of the game. To explain the GM Game in a short blurb it's a fantasy hockey league that goes at the pace of the real NHL. We have 32 GMs (now 31, thus why I'm here writing this up lol) who each manage their own team and make their own trades, signings, draft picks, etc. The game is run by a group of 6 members that we call the BOG that were voted in by the rest of the game in an election. For scoring, rosters are inputted into a sheet once a month and scored using that month's stats, I'll link the sheet below, it was made by me and has player cards on it, I'm sure everybody here would like to see those and yes it's free but back to what I was saying... We want someone smart and active with a Twitter account, which I believe many of you are. If you are interested in joining please message me @nickthehabsfan on Twitter and I'll see what I can do.

P.S. If you don't want to start as a GM but what to see what the game is about you can join as an AGM, message me at the account above

Scoring Sheet Link

I hope to hear from some of you soon.

If i remember correctly, NYI thought they could extend Vanek, but he ended up wanting to hit UFA to sign with Minnesota. Since they were missing playoffs, they flipped him.

MTL also did a flip with Scandella in 2020. Acquired him in January for a 4th round pick. Flipped him a month later for a 2nd and a conditionnal 4th.

Lou’s stretch of moves between 1988-1992 alone get him into Hall-of-fame. I am a Devils fan and I love him for it.

But I think you are giving him too much credit here. I think it’s simply (1) get to playoffs, (2) make run, (3) worry about extending him later.

He is 80 years old. He doesn’t buy green bananas anymore.

Hischier is not even the best defensive center on his own team

It's been a really rough day for your team. And it's gonna be a really rough next 8-10 years as well. I truly empathize. As for the Selke, you know better. This award is never given to the best defensive Forward. It's given to the best defensive Forward who happens to be an excellent offensive player. Or do you think it's a coincidence that every winner just happens to be one of the better offensive Forwards in the game? Nico Hischier is undeniably one of the top 2-way Centers in the game right now.

I wouldn't qualify 13 NHL games as a tenure. Then again, you never said Vancouver Canucks.

Hughes is literally better offensively and defensively. Hischier has negative EVD and DEF. What is with all the Hischier hype?

Obviously, you've never watched them play, b/c that's just flat out wrong. You're charts and so called advanced stats are misinformation. Like I've said 100 times: If charts and graphs were more than a small piece of the puzzle, John Chayka wouldn't have been a total failure and computers would build teams. BTW, Nico is the #1C and plays against every team's #1C.

So you are telling me that I should trust YOUR qualitative observations instead? By the eye test, Josh Anderson is a top 10 player in the NHL in my opinion

- fall out of playoff contention in spectacular fashion
- draft Will Smith (or some other forward available in the 8 - 12 range)
- let Horvat (and Varly) walk
- get Larkin in FA
can this poverty franchise make the playoffs next year?
