BUF would do that if Sorokin had more years left on his deal
But if Sorokin is open at staying in BUF, it's a fair trade
For Nelson, you could get more IMO

I still think ur selling too low on Sorokin. I don’t even think Sabres fans would expect to give a pick back. Hell most of them don’t even seem to think this is enough.

This dude really only cares about picks sometimes, and he sells way too low on Soroky and Nelly imo.

It’s just ballpark, not exact value. The only way the isles are going to make the playoffs in the next decade is if they acquire picks and rebuild. Isles are cooked, with or without Sorokin

They r cooked. I’d say it’s 33% injuries, 33% bad asset management and 34% terrible ducking coaching.

I’d say it’s 1% injuries, 95% awful forward core and 4% coaching. Anaheim and arizonas forwards would be better than the isles even if the isles added timo Meier

I know you guys keep saying trade Sorokin...But I'm keeping him. Next year, we have a new GM, let's see what his game plan is first. Sorokin is a top 3 Goalie

Raty, Holmstrom, Dufour… they all showed promise but none of them have gotten or got a look on special teams over the Great Josh Bailey lmao

isles can't prevent him from leaving - there's really nothing the isles can do in the immediate future to become a playoff team. They missed their shot this past offseason.

Holmstrom has gotten a long look at 5v5, he's a good 3rd line F. I don't think Dufour is nhl ready yet. Raty I agree and it would still be a terrible F core.

Holmstrom had that sick shot against Carolina, but he hasn’t scored at a significant rate since he was like 14. That being said I really do think he has all the tools necessary to be an impact second line winger if he puts it all together.

if he won't sign this offseason, they have to trade him, goalies have questionable value at the deadline

maybe 3rd best player on a 2nd line, he won't be impact player driving it.

I missed the Boston game for work, but I don’t think it’s fair to make any rookie play with Josh Bailey day one. You can’t ask him to be the second best forward on his line day one against the best team in the league

I personally think the isles will lock him up next year. They can't tank that bad with the new arena. The owner's won't do that. They would have only 3000-4000 coming to games. They will build around Sorokin, Dobson, Pelech, Brazal, Raty, Wally....Force Martin and Clutter retire, give them some sort of front office job. Trade Mayfield, Nelson, Parise,Vary - get some salary relief and get some young talent. This retool if done right can be done in 2 years Look at the Rangers did it.

I think you guys r jumping the gun on that one. I genuinely think he likes it here… and he legit is besties with the Romanov’s. In my opinion this team is so bad they can lose with him anyway, so if he’s willing to resign you probably have to keep him.

Im talking about his future based on what he's done in the AHL and NHL. I don't think he has the makeup to be an impact player on a top 6 line, more of a complimentary player. He doesn't have an elite tool.

I’d trade Varly and bring him back in the summer on a one year deal if possible. Or find Soroky a new Russian friend to back him up.

That's a different story....Look we said the same thing about Brazal, if he wouldn't resign this year, the isles would need to move him. Guess what, they got it done.

Idk I think he has the ability to move the puck up with his speed and skill. Not sure I agree with you on this one, but player development is tricky to evaluate. My philosophy has always been I’ll wait for a guy to show me what he can do before I label him.

I think thats something that needs to be looked at. We have 3 Russian players - Sorokin, Vary and Romanov. You have to make him comfortable. If you don't bring Vary back, get another Russian or 2 in the locker room (obviously, they need to be able to play lol)

The problem with the isles is they won't have a choice - and sorokin has 0 reason to sign this offseason when they can't lay out a realistic plan to contend in the near future. This re-build will take 3-4 years, not 2 years. Rangers got lucky with Adam fox and panarin only wanting to play for them.

You're talking as if the isles have leverage with sorokin. He will be unrestricted and there are many teams with a brighter immediate future than the isles. Buffalo, LA, Detroit, Seattle etc.
