This seems good. I like those cheap under-the-radar targets for Boston.

Can definitely see the Canucks taking that, but they may prefer the highest pick they can get for Schenn rather than a player and a later pick

Bjugstad and Schenn make sense but they will probably require an overpay especially the latter. Parise is better offensively than the Bruins 4th liners but he would have less OZ starts and that could affect his play. I'd trade for a better player defensively with more speed.

Exactly what I think the Bruins should do this year - I worry that the Schenn offer might be a little light because we know GMs get stupid around the deadline over sandpaper guys like him, but if Vancouver's into Beecher as a prospect I think they bite.

He is a fine player but I don't want anyone wearing an Isles uniform at the deadline

There are other places to find better adds. And the Islanders are bums. He is a pure rental and if we are going to go for someone they shouldn't be an ancient relic.

Again, have you watched him play this year?

Why do the islanders have anything to do with that?

Who else would you target?

I've watched him when he has played the Bruins. I'd rather see them take a swing on a Garland or a Meier. Or keep the best team in the NHL right now and just get a young depth forward. Not a player ready for the retirement home.

I don't think so either. That doesn't make the answer paying for a rental dinosaur. Save the picks

On pace for 22 goals, can slot into any line, can help on the PP2 and the PK, and is literally one of the Isles best defensive forwards (best 5v5 GA/60 of any forward with more than 9 GP) - and his cap hit is literally the league minimum.

Meier will cost a 1st & Lysell to start; Garland scores at a lower rate than him, doesn't kill penalties, and has nearly a $5M cap as a middle-6 guy. I don't get the aversion to getting a good, solid, cheap rental for a team primed for a Cup run - signing or cheaply acquiring guys like this is exactly what Cup teams like Colorado (Darren Helm, Andrew Cogliano) and Tampa (Corey Perry, Pat Maroon) do to solidify a great squad.

this dinosaur will score 20 goals this year on the 3rd line.....for $750K, he's a hell of a bargain.

You just described Trent Frederic but old and costs two picks.

The nhl has a salary cap.

Depth is always needed. Injuries happen. You may remember in the 2011 cup final it wasn’t Nathan Horton on the first line RW, it was rich peverley. This is that kind of target. I would rather parise than lauko

If you’d rather keep a third round pick than add depth to this team, I’m really confused as to where your heads at. Injuries happen

Are you laboring under the delusion that Zach parise is intended to replace Trent frederic?

Trent Federic is on pace for 19 goals, has a grand total of about a minute and a half all season long on the PP, and averages less than 30 seconds a night on the PK. He also makes $300K more than Parise (so, not the league minimum.) He also has almost a grand total of 4 playoff games to his name (and has spent almost as much time in the box as he has on the actual ice!)

Other than all that, sure thing, they're the same.

I didn't say anything about replacing. I was simply pointing out that every thing they just attributed to Parise describes Trent Frederic who is 24 instead of 38. I don't have a problem with adding depth. But if you are going to spend picks (which the Bruins have few of) spend it on depth you can sign for awhile rather than a guy that could retire in a year or two. The Bruins are old enough there is no reason to waste any assets to get older. Same philosophy behind the Zacha Haula trade.
