Description
As much as I'd love to see CGY move on from Dube, he's been playing satisfactory this year and has worked well with 28 & 73. Bread (88) is starting to rise so why not put him on the wing with 91 & 10. Bread will be trade bait (at a low cost) this summer if Sutter doesn't try him with a more offensive line. In the meantime, we should use 11 and 20 to shelter a new young gun like Philips or Pelletier. Sutter needs a wrist-slap for his limited minutes on young/small players and try to drum up some more offence and skill.

I don't hate on Lucic because of the leadership and physical protection he can bring to the team - I honestly hope they resign him at league minimum next year but he can't be on the 91/10 line any longer - it's embarrassing.

Mangiapane is absolutely not being taken off that Backlund line

88-11-20 by a bunch of metrics are the best line in hockey, Mangiapane had a horrid start to the season but us putting up point per game numbers in January so far, it would be wrong to take what is working really well and change it up. Some nights that's the only line that's working, I don't know if they have had a bad game since they've been reunited.

Why would Calgary move on from Dube?? The simplest switch here, and I think it should have happened last night when Lucic was sitting for a fighting major, is to try both Duehr and Pelletier on that second line with Huberdeau and Kadri. Lucic, Lewis, Ruzicka and Duehr can rotate and compete for playing time.

I agree Lucic doesn’t belong on the 2nd Line, but if anything, the Kadri line should be demoted to the 3rd line, not the Top Line. The Mang-Backs-Coleman line should be promoted to the 2nd line

I was hoping for an Offensive Break Out Season and More Points from Dube this season, but that said he came to camp in the best shape, is the hardest working flame this season and he’s on a value contract. He’s extremely Hot right now with 3 Goals and an Assist in his last 5 Games, so he stays where he is and both Lindholm & Toffoli are producing, so they deserve the minutes and to remain as our Top Line

I’d like to see Pelletier-Kadri-Huberdeau and then have Lucic & Ruzicka compete for 4LW with Lewis at Centre and Duehr at 4RW

Not sure what the situation with Tanev is but I like Zadorov-Weegar paired together much much better. Weegar played way better last night once he moved to the right side, alternatively he should be demoted to the 3rd pairing

Yes, ride Vladar as our go to Goalie since he’s Hot and we’re winning with him

We already saw alot of Mang on Kadri's wing, it wasn't great, maybe it'd be better with Huby. I wouldn't mind if he got a look next to Lindholm but Dube hasn't given a reason to be moved.

If Mangiapane can only be successful next to Backlund I've got no problem with him being trade bait. Let Dube or Pelletier take that spot at a fraction of the cost.

I think Mang would be successful with any of these lines combos:

Mang-Backs-Coleman
Mang-Kadri-Coleman
Mang-Lindy-Dube
Mang-Backs-Dube
Mang-Dube-Ruzicka/Duehr
Pelletier-Dube-Mang

And yeah, Mang-Lindy-Toffoli might work too

I like the idea of Mang, Backs, Dube, they've made some good plays together.

Backlund-Coleman have been a great duo, but Kadri needs a more defensive winger who can dig pucks out of the corners and Mang-Dube are an even better duo imo.

Like look at them together on the PK and last night against CLB in overtime. Not sure if they were intimidated playing with Kadri or what, but they just weren’t clicking with him at Centre and were doing terrible line changes allowing the other team to walk in with extra numbers for high danger scoring opportunities. I figure with a more defensive Centre like Backlund or Lindholm, they’d feel more comfortable getting creative offensively, especially knowing Backlund isn’t a big point producer or sniper, so they should take the bulk of the shots and look to score themselves

I think Kadri's lines have been pretty bad defensively regardless of who he's playing with, that current line always looks pretty bad in our own end. Looch always gets stuck trying to exit our blue line. Huby makes a lot of questionable no look passes to the slot (on both ends of the ice). Kadri has a serious lone wolf mentality, he always seems to try and carry it himself.

So I agree give him Coleman, maybe even Lewis as well, they can dig it out and play defensively, Kadri can be free to do his thing.

Then we just need to find someone on Hubys wavelength to pick up those no lookers he likes to throw.

Anthony Duclair, Max Domi and Ivan Barbashev come to mind in a Trade, but I’d still like to see Pelletier, Ruzicka and Duehr get some playing time with Huberdeau to see what that looks like
