Well, as it stands right now this is a cap dump (Kapanen) and a fringe NHLer defenseman with no trade value for a point per game scorer making less than a million per year and a solid second pairing defenseman.

Disclaimer-The only way the canucks are open to moving kuzmenko is if he can’t agree to terms with them on a new contract… assuming horvat and more is moved out then they should have room to resign him…

But if pit wanted to acquire him, it starts with as Rutherford said a younger change of scenery player… then def a 1st and a prospect like poulin…

So for schenn and kuzmenko

Pit could offer
1st, kapanen, poulin, one of POJ/Smith, one of our goalie prospects

A first. Which will never happen. As a Pens fan Kuzmenko’s offensive touch would be a hell of an addition and Schenn’s physicality and decent defensive ability adds a lot of what we’d need from our blueline. As a Canucks fan this gets declined. Ty Smith is a nice addition but I don’t think he’d amount to the value of Kuzmenko. Plus I’d honestly want to keep him as a Pens fan. Vancouver would have a decent amount of LHD and no room for them all.

Does Smith play on the right side as well. I dont really know much about him other than 1st round pick that put up good numbers in NJ. I was thinking second 2 pairing on right side in the future.

He does play on the right side. Just not sure if I’d actually want him playing on the right side in Vancouver though. Already got some undersized defencemen.

I didn't think it would be that high. I thought adding a first might be to high.

He actually plays a stronger game on his right side, and he plays big for his size 5'11" 195lbs. as two-way Dman.

He has been quite impressive though. And I just remembered Gonchar is our defence development coach. So there’d be some serious upside actually if Smith were to be moved to Vancouver

All of Kappy’s production has come from playing on the 3rd/4th lines. He’d pretty much be on the same pace point production wise on a lower term and lower cap hit than Garland and he’s seen a hell of a lot more minutes than Kappy. To me, think again.

Are you serious. Kuzmenko is worth a 1st and 3rd alone. Not equal at all. Sorry but you are way off on this one. Why are you brining up Garland?
Yes, Kapanen is a good 3rd line winger.
