The Devils are not trading Nemec for Meier and if they do it would be one for one.

Meier for Holtz + Johnsson + 1st is pretty even

                  Adding Nemec is just obnoxious

P.K speaking about the rumors of Meier to NJ. Usually when you start hearing broadcasting reporting rumors its getting close.

I feel like Holtz and a 1st is similar to Faber and a 1st but Holtz is somewhat better but you’re getting Meier for an extra playoff run so it evens it out. I’m pretty high on Faber tho

Far, far too much. Holtz and/or Nemec won’t be included unless Meier is extending at crazy low AAV. (Nor Luke Hughes).

Would also need to be an even amount of contracts exchanged, unless Sharks are dumping guys elsewhere before this deal.

Lastly, is this with an extension or without? And is Bratt extending before Meier? If extending Meier at big number meant Bratt walks in 2024, will NJD fans be okay with that?

Sometimes the best moves are the trades we don’t make.

You're not getting Timo without Holtz or a prospect of similar value. That's very plain to see. Nemec obviously isn't going to work for NJ.

I think that sounds about right, but Faber was probably more expendable for LAK (Doughty, Roy, Clarke, Durzi, Spence, etc). Holtz really isn’t in NJ.

My guess was - Prospect like Mukhamadullin or Gritsyuk along with a 1st if done at draft, add another 1st or 2nd and another prospect if done at deadline.

                  Ballpark…
Muk + 2023 1st (at or near draft)
                  Muk + 2023 1st + 2024 1st (at deadline with extension)
                  Gritsyuk + 2023 1st (draft)
                  Gritsyuk + 2023 1st + 2024 2nd + Zetterlund (deadline)
                  Casey + 2023 1st (draft)
                  Casey + 2023 1st + 2024 2nd + Bahl (deadline).

…with $8m to $8.25m extension (for both Meier and Bratt).

                  Otherwise not worth it.

If it’s Holtz or no deal, it’s probably no deal.

If it’s Holtz or no deal, it’s probably no deal.

There are other fish in the sea.

Its not Holtz or nothing, its just that it has to be Holtz level or better.

A Timo trade has to hurt you or its not fair in the slightest

If a Timo trade hurts us, we are definitely not doing it. It should help us.

Look at post #8. The value is there. Doesn’t need Holtz to be included.

                  The only one I consider there is Muk + 2023 1st + 2024 1st
The centerpiece cant be a prospect with bottom six potential.

I dont think you should be concerned about a draft trade, because deadline is what we are currently looking at

Draft day is easier to draw consistent comps. Deadline could end up being like Mark Stone deal if Meier’s list is small.

At this point, the message is you make the right offer then you get to talk to Meier. Obviously that package wont happen if he doesnt sign, but I dont see him turning down a deal with the devils once they make the right offer.

I am fully confident Fitzgerald has the pieces to satisfy Grier’s requests. It’s more on Meier’s contract expectations and where he wants to play.

Theres no way to get into his head, but I feel like NJ is very much up his alley. Young team starting to do well, fantastic centers to play with, big city life, friend on the team.

P.K speaking about the rumors of Meier to NJ. Usually when you start hearing broadcasting reporting rumors its getting close.

I missed the ESPN broadcast, what did PK say?

If YOU had your choice who would it be Muk or Grits?
I'm guessing Muk as the D is pretty crowded

Muk is at best a 3-4 dman. That isn't landing you a 40 goal power forward in his prime. Let's be realistic.

If I knew Gritsyuk was signing (no reason to think he won’t), I would say keep him, send Mukhamadullin.

(Fitzy would probably do the opposite).

If I am Grier, Mercer would be my first ask. Am surprised we haven’t seen him in more of these.

A future top 3-4 dman, at 21-years old, plus two 1st round picks should be plenty.

Just saying that he hears the Meier trade rumors and that it would be a perfect fit
