That doesn't get Karlsson from San Jose. They are apparently looking for 3 1sts

With the exception of the shortened 56 game Season, where he was able to "maintain" himself by missing only 4 games...Karlsson missed a combined 80 games between the 18-19, 19-20 and 21-22 Seasons.

While I understand the excitement he's generating with this Season's performance, it's more of an outlier from his usual injury prone self.

Considering he's not getting any younger, and that ridiculous Cap hit isn't going anywhere anytime soon, I would much rather stick with the younger and cheaper Schneider.

San Jose can wish in one hand and...you know the rest.

If they want out of that deal, the ask needs to come down. Nobody is signing up to eat half that salary for several more years, resurgence this year or not. Heck, I doubt a second season in a row like this one for Karlsson gets 3 1sts. Way too much risk.

laugh Sharks aren't eating nearly $29,000,000 for Sebrango and a 1st and 2nd round pick. And then we eat $2,000,000 for 4.5 years for Schneider and a 1st. No way in hell is Yzerman wasting a retention slot for the next 4.5 years.

I can't argue that, but EK at under 4 million? On a team with the best goalie and a solid defensive corps with a solid defensive system? I'd take it. How many more good years are the Rangers getting out of Panarin, Krieder, and well Trocheck was a mistake. Mika Zibanajad should age fine, but his supporting cast may not.

I think I'd have a tough time saying no to a low cost trade for EK. Schneider may cost a lot more than 4 million in a couple years.

San Jose isn’t retaining $30 mil on the leading Norris candidate to get that back. Add edvinsson and a 1st to start

GM's do bad deals all the time. San jose isn't getting 3 1st for all those reasons stated. saving 22 mil + is a good incentive to move on with the return, or just eat the whole contract. Drury is a terrible GM and new york needs to win now and loves a big name. detroit is still rebuilding and that retrurn for 9 mil is a good deal with cap space and it going up. Hell Steve ate abdelkader deal for more and didnt get anything, he has the cap space

I do like that idea of acquiring a late first and then flipping it in a Horvat trade. We can't give up our 2023 1st tho, that pick is far too valuable
