TDL Plan

Created by: Hammerwise
Team: 2022-23 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 24, 2023
Published: Jan. 25, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Laughton, signed 4 yrs is the exact type of 3rd liner, who can play all 3 positions/PK/etc we need.
Henrique might be a high price, but its 2 years of retention
SDA and Hollowell are never going to be full time NHLers, and neither has much value, free up the roster spots and get playing/development time to the real prospects

A really good 3rd line for the playoffs and a balanced defense.

I love how you always try to slide in an absolute stunning win for Philly in every trade. Minten is not going anywhere for a 3rd liner we don't need

What’s the purpose of the Montreal trade?

Really just to move 2 contracts that wont contribute to the leafs and gain back a pick in 2023. Hollowell and SDA are okay, and could be nice 4th line callups, but doubt that happens in TOR.

But really just chaff.

To be fair, Laughton is worth more than a 2nd TWO drafts away and a 3rd THREE drafts away. Obviously you see Minten as a bluechip, I dont. Hes a late 2nd rounder, that might not pan out at all, to me hes the difference between what Laughton is worth, and PHI having to wait on those picks

We don`t need a Semyon we have Owen Beck and we have enough 5`9`` players so no thanks on MAC

HABS are trading for picks not useless prospects

Laughton is average at best; career numbers are underwhelming to say the least:
486 gms, 76 goals, 184 points
He doesn’t move the needle, is not worth Minten and most likely means we can’t re-sign Kampf. A big no thanks imo

I would accept that offer as the Anaheim GM. In fact, I would accept it without Robertson or the third.

So you need MTL to do TML a favour AND score a return in the process?

Yeah… I don’t think so…

Another classic, you ask for a specific prospect who you then say isn't going to pan out. Then why do you want him? Not at all surprising

Exactly, he's not even overly good defensively either.

I'll second that the third can be dropped, but might as well leave Robertson in the deal, at least he'd have someone to stand up for him with the Ducks when he gets run.

And he’d get to experience a 0.344 winning percentage unsure .

Well look who woke up and chose violence this morning. No, he wouldn't get to experience a 0.344 win percentage, since he had season ending surgery, again. Remind me which Leafs dropped the gloves to stand up for him after that hit? Ah, that's right, zero, no one even skated over to check on him after the whistle.

We know we are bad this year, we will rebound next year after Verbeek buys us a defense this summer. In the mean time, enjoy your first round exit.

You started with the random shots at Leafs. No one on Leafs challenged the goon that hit Robertson and Ducks have a win % of 0.344. Both are facts.
Leafs aren’t a particularly tough team but 🤷 I prefer speed and skill; everyone sorry to see a young kid get hurt.
Don’t remember world war 3 breaking out when beagle filled in Terry but I guess that doesn’t fit your anti Leaf agenda
