That is a hefty price to pay but if he was coming with an extension i would be all for it.

I just don’t see why he wouldn’t want to take an 8x8 playing beside either the best goal scorer in hockey or one of the best playmakers in hockey. Also it’s hefty but worth it 100% Meier doesn’t make the Leafs a contender, he makes them a cup favourite, If they got Meier Tampa & Boston would be afraid to see us in the playoffs

What about the year after when it comes time to re-sign 34 and 88?
Do you think Timo would even accept that offer, when his QO is $10M and could just get it from another team?

Don't get me wrong, I am on the Timo bandwagon and would trade for even just one playoff run if it helps take us all the way, i just don't see how it fits in our future plans, without dismantling the big 4. Maybe a Rielly trade in the future.

Meier-Matthews-Marner, the 3M line would be the best in the league. Need to find someone else for Anderson, he isn't an NHL player imo.

Yes cause it makes
Perfect sense to take a 10x1 instead of an 8 x 8. Also no one wants to give him 10 of else he would’ve been traded ysterday, The cap is supposed to move up guaranteed after next season & it should be a massive bump, plus 5 mil off of Brodie, is more then enough to fill the raises for Will & Papi

He’s The Best Goal Scorer for the last 3-4 years at this point, One season with a small dip in production doesn’t mean much, he already has 2 rockets in his cabinet

Sure - statistically, he was the best goal scorer last season and the year before...so 2 seasons out of his 7

Based on that, doesn't really make sense to call him the "best goal scorer in hockey"

I think it’s fair, but we can agree to disagree, he’s still one of the best goal scorers in hockey
