Just the Horvat problem with a different guy but even more expensive. Would the Avs (or anyone) love to have Timo? Of course. But they can't mortgage the future for half a year of the guy and they sure as heck don't have $10M a year to re-sign him beyond this season (let alone $8M-$8.5M a year to resign Horvat if they did this with him).

That might be the case but with no draft capital at all in successive drafts is going to make keeping the championship window open.
