Being Realistic

Description
The best thing for the long-term health of this franchise is to miss the playoffs, sell some current assets for whatever you can get for them, continue to (over) fill the cupboards, and prepare for the 25/26 season. I’m not concerned about keeping Kaprizov happy in the short-term, but believe he will see how good this team will be for a decade and happily resign to be a part of it.

Additional Details:
I despise buying at the TDL only to achieve mediocrity!
All of these players would be available if I ran the team.
I’ll hold onto Zuccarello until next season’s TDL…

It’s representative of what I’m trying to accomplish…not a real trade. Did I really need to explain that to you???

Shouldn't have to - it's literally written out in the trade description, I don't think it could be more obvious what's being depicted here.

I'm with you though. This perpetual mushy middle is brutal.

Why would Kap stay long term after a couple of 1st round exits, then a couple of no Playoff years? He'll get a huge payday no matter where he signs. Kap has played on powerhouse teams and knows what it's like to be a winner. Trade him now if your plan is to tank for a couple of years.

can a lateral swap between Fleury and Allen could be a possibility?

Unfortunately Fleury and Goligoski have full NMC's for some reason. I wouldn't actually mind keeping Fleury if they would deploy him properly. They keep thinking he's gonna find something he's never had before. But as a true backup he would be solid enough.

Hartman I would keep just because you're not going to find anything better at 1.7M, even if he has been a total bonehead lately.

The rest of them, would love to shop if I could.
