Description
Something like this. Many of these contracts will be signed before 2023-2024. Just guessing at salary cap in 24-25. Beds really seems to like Malgin and Englund -- good cheap guys to have as fill-ins who fit the system.

Imo trade Girard for a better option than Wennberg at center, that opens up 8.5 mil (5 mil of Girard, 3.5 of Wennberg) use most if not all of that money to resign Toews

I agree 100% but I can't seem to make the #s fit. I'm about the biggest Toews fan out there. He's a top-12 D in the league, on just about any other team he's the 1D and comps (Spurgeon, Jones, Werenski, Nurse, Chabot) get $7.5M-$9.5M. Even if they trade Girard it will be hard to have any depth with Toews getting that $$ on top of Byram, Newhook, etc. unless the cap goes WAY up. I'm definitely not tied to Wennberg. He seems like the Compher-type who thrives here and I think JT's priced himself out unless he's willing to stay at the same salary. Dumba has lost a lot of value. I think he could be had fairly cheap. We'll see.

Rumblings that Byram wants to be The Man. Not sure he goes for a bridge. I could see a cheap, 1yr deal in 23-24 due to cap squeeze, his injury, and lack of Arb. Gives them time to sort out Toews. In 24-25, I see a big money deal OR another 1yr Prove It deal for Bo

I like the Englund deal. I think the stage is set for him to get a LOC type of deal from the Avs like you have here. I might put him in the starting six.

I like Toews but he'll be 29 to start his new deal. I bet the Avs prefer Byram to blow up so they let Toews walk. Re-signing him looks like Pietrangelo which is not ideal.

He will be an elite player until he's well into his 30s, his skating and IQ ensure that. The Avs D core is much thinner without him, and deep strong D-cores are what ultimately make teams have deep and successful playoff runs.

He's already got a ton of miles. Two years ago, his first in COL, Bednar played him too much & he lost effectiveness when playoffs came. This season its the same thing, making lazy, uncharacteristic errors as he tries to manage his energy level. He'd be asking to double his salary & contract length. At that point he may only have a couple elite years left, and then he'll start being Ryan McDonaugh.

I can't see either Newhook or Byram signing those deals - they might do one maybe two year bridges to get to past the flat cap but, assuming they've settled in as regulars that contribute what they're capable of, they'll want richer, long-term deals. I think you have to do one of ERod or Wennberg, not both; I'd take ERod. Olausson isn't a checking-line guy, he's a shooter so he needs to be on the third line. Foudy is the same.

No interest in paying Rodrigues and Wennberg or signing Dumba at all until the Avs take their best shot at Toews.

His best comp is Lindholm. Slightly different players who are exactly the same age. Something in the 7M range would be ideal. Playing with Makar has to be worth something!

Byram needs to stay fit first to even be in consideration for being 'The Man'.

He wouldn't have to play top pairing minutes if Byram pans out, he could play 2nd pair and thrive. I'm just gonna bet and say that Colorado could sign him for around 6-7 mil which I think is reasonable. You don't have to give him tons of term if the age worries you, maybe just 3-4 years

If Toews will take $6-$7M I'm all in but he's won a Cup, may win another this year or next, and may just go for the $$ -- and who could blame him then...
