CBJ aren't in playoff hunt so we would only offer an incentive to be able to pay him for 8 years and not 7... And if he is definitely not singing then hes getting traded to a contender, not us. If we were to trade for the incentive to get him for 8 years instead of 7 then I think we offer a 3rd round pick / Middle prospect

Yzerman doesn't even consider those picks, UFA rights are around 3rd or 4th round picks.

Nothing from the Jackets. We can wait until/if he becomes a UFA

Columbus is a joke, Their D and Goaltening has been atrocious, Larkin is whining because he's only made the playoffs one year in 7. Got news Columbus sure as hell isn't going to be any better anytime soon than Detroit. Who's going to have far better D and Goaltending in the next 2-3 years.

I'm not proposing a 6th for Larkin, LOL. I'm just starting the convo. I sent those trades just to gather interest.

Canes won't get involved in a bidding war, they'll set a value and if Yzerman wants anything more, they'll tell him to get lost. There are options like Horvat, Toews or (my favorite fit for the Canes) ROR. No need to pay a dumb price for a player that's likely going to free agency anyway

frown you dont have to be so mean about it frown

But yeah we are garbage rn but honestly it probs falls almost fully on defense (but we are missing Werenski and Bean). Goaltending isn't horrible as long as Elvis doesn't play. And with a healthy team next season and hopefully Jiricek joining the blue line we could probably be even if not better than Detroit tbh

I'm a Detroit fan and Columbus definitely has a better prospect pool than Detroit. You have to be wearing some rose-colored glasses to think otherwise.

Their D and Goaltending prospect core isn't better than Detroits. Perhaps their forward prospect core is but not by much.

Edvinsson-Seider
Wallinder-Hronek
Johansson-Lindstrom/UFA

Cossa
Husso

Will be way better than Columbus. They only have us in their forward core and take away Gaudreau and Laine and it's not even that good.

Who's mad? just stating fact. Merzlinkins isn't all that great. and it's basically Werenki and Jiricek on the blueline and the rest is meh. only thing that Columbus has going for it over Detroit is their forward core. And that doesn't matter if you don't have the D and Goaltending.

They wont be impactful next year but we also have Cuelmans and Mateychuk and Svozil (who may actually make an impact next year) as D prospects, not to mention a good chance at a top 3 pick... If Lakrin wants to lead a new team that LOOKS to be about on the front end of their window opening up then we are here.

Also was just trying to say a joke about the mad thing, you were spitting facts about us being garbage lol

It's early to tell, but Cossa isn't looking good so far. Ed & Wallinder will be good. Jo isn't looking great by any means this year. We have only 1-2 good forward prospects that are not in the NHL.

Whereas, CBJ has Sillinger, Johnson, Jiricek, Mateychuk, Marchenko, top 5 pick this year (Fantilli/Carlsson) all coming up.

From a quality perspective...
Johnson = Kasper
Jiricek = Seider
Sillinger = Berggren
Marchenko < Wallinder
Mateychuk > Johansson

Carlsson/Fantilli will be the best of this entire bunch, and certainly better than whoever we draft at 8-12 overall. Each team also has a number of "maybe they make it, maybe they don't" prospects.

From the NHL rosters...
Gaudreau >>> Bertuzzi
Laine < Raymond
ZW >>> Hronek

As a Detroit fan, I'm not going to pretend like we're going to be better than CBJ just because I'm more familiar with Detroit.

Yeah, missing Z this year has just killed us... He gets overpaid when looking at other similar players but he really is the heart of the defense

I think ZW is paid appropriately. He's a 23+ minute, 40+ point defenseman. Probably gets more points and better looks as time goes on with that roster. He's a top dman in the league.

That guy is always abrasive and rude and never brings anything of substance to the conversation, just more irrational Columbus hate. Just report his comment, mute him, and move on.

If Larkin is heading to Carolina with an extension it's either Necas coming back or Jarvis and picks or another top prospect. I don't think Carolina has any interest in that.

Lol take away a teams top 2 forwards and they’re not even better than your teams. That’s some amazing logic….

Yeah, no interest in that. Could see the best offer being morrow 23 first and another pick or prospect but if that’s not enough they’ll look elsewhere. A lot of options this year and more will become available over next few weeks.
