don't like the fit either. Cozens and Thompson are the 1-2 center core of the future...not sure adding a third would help, especially with how good Cozens has been.

I think you need to add a first on the ARI trade and you definitely should do that. Buffalo would be absolutely insane with that upgrade.

I don't think Horvat is needed

Sabres need massive #2 upgrade over Mitt's. Could Cozen be that? Probably, but trade and sign a #2 and keep the growth going for Cozens on the 'youth energy line.' what a line up with these top 3: Thompson, Horvat Cozens. With back end of Dahlin, Chychrun, and Powers with Samuelsson already signed for the long haul. Love the look and feel in the back end and down the middle.

Horvat would be our 3rd line center, that's a lot of money to pay for that role.

I do think you are wrong in your assessment. Mittelstadt former top 10 pick, who has gotten better every year and should be a 35-40pt Center this year. Add another 1st round defensemen in Ryan Johnson playing at the University of Minnesota, had very good showing at the 2021 World Juniors and has played VERY GOOD at Minnesota. I could see the 2 picks being 1x 1st with the same players. Bryson is a throw in that could join Coyotes and play right away and play very well.

You can think I'm wrong if you want but none of these pieces entice Arizona to move Chychrun. More quality, less quantity.

?? Cozens has been the #2 center all year. Cozens is almost to 20 goals and is scoring a point per game. Mittlestadt has been a 3rd line winger

Yeah Buffalo doesn’t make sense as a fit either with how good Thompson and Cozens are

While the Sabres are doing well being one the worse FO teams in the NHL, having some one who can win them would help in many fashions.
First, every time a PK team wins a FO at the start of the PK and can fire the puck down the ice, at least 15 seconds of the PK is consumed, or 1/8 of the PK.
Do that 4 more times and the PK is time is cut in half.
Second, the reverse on the PP, no additional explanation needed.
Third, in OT, get possession to start, be the first team to go on the offense.
Fourth, how good is Bo on the face off, no NHL player has won more FO over the past five years than he. More than O'Reilly, more than Bergeron, more than Kopitar.
Fifth, over his career he has averaged 27 goals/82 games.

Comrie, Östlund, Portillo, and two picks are peanuts compared to the value of Bo.
Bottom line, if Buffalo could get him for those assets, he would improve the PK, PP and the team over all scoring. The Sabres would be fools to say no even if RHD is a top priority.
BTW, I am not an advocate of trading away assets, but he would certainly make this team better.
The Sabres would need to be able to have a contract extension in place before the trade.

Cozens is WAAAY past mitts but I could see Bo fitting, I also didn't realize his faceoff prowess until @gretzkyghosts pointed that out. Would be a huge add in the circle for sure.

OR….
You could look at it as is having a 1-2-3 Center trio instead of just a good duo
Remember when we had Briere/Drury/Roy ?
I think that worked out pretty damn good for us

He’s also very Drury-like in that he plays a strong 2way game & can go up against other team’s top lines on a nightly basis

Thus, taking away the need to have a defensive line led by Okposo/Girgs

Not necessarily
He could play a 2way role for us, much like Drury did back in the day
And we’d have a great Top9 potentially that would roughly play equal minutes & our 4th line wouldn’t see as much icetime- and that would be ideal for breaking in all the youth we have coming still, by allowing them to get their feet wet but not put too much on their shoulders while they get acclimated to the NHL

Horvat would actually be a great idea imo
*assuming he’d sign a reasonable extension

I'd much rather address our need of a really solid RHD in the top 4. We can always sign a FA in the offseason to fill that 3rd line center role, but I'm sure Krebs, Jost, or Savoie will be the frontrunners for that job next season
