Yzerman just isn't all that great of a GM.

It just says something that they couldn't get it done until he left.

I think his scouts he had in Tampa did the heavy lifting. He gets all the credit for other people's work. Like when Chiarelli got credit for Boston's win. Or Stan Bowman for the team Tallon built.

Yzerman playoff success in Tampa - 3 playoff misses, 2 1st round exits, 0 2nd Round Exits, 3 Conference Final Exits, 1 Stanley Cup Final loss
Yzerman playoff success in Detroit - 3 playoff misses
Dubas playoff success in Toronto - lol

If Yzerman is bad, Dubas must be Pete Chiarelli levels of terrible

I am not worried about Dubas, he's built a team that is ready to break through. It's coming

Dubas would be more like Tallon, took a team from nothing, made them great and then the next guy comes in and gets the credit.

Pretty sure the Canes accept that. Also pretty sure that the Canes will try to land Larkin at the deadline if they are able.

But yeah, Ned was definitely one of Yzerman’s mistakes. That being said, he is at least a good GM for not giving up more than he did for Ned, since a better return could have been argued with Ned being a Calder finalist that year.

Ned did finish 3rd in Calder voting with .932 SV% and a 1.90 GAA and that was just before he was traded. Just about every GM in the league would be willing to part with a 3rd for a goalie that put up those kind of numbers. I'm pretty sure Ned requested the trade and Carolina made the trade because they weren't going to meet Ned's asking price.

I'm pretty sure just about ever will try to land Larkin and its foolish to think otherwise. Will anyone be able to land Larkin is an entirely different story.
