DL 20

Created by: tmann10
Team: 2022-23 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 23, 2023
Published: Jan. 25, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If the Wild want to make a significant push for and into the playoffs, in my opinion, it needs to look something similar to this. Secondary scoring needs to be a priority. That being said, I don't think this will be remotely what happens. But, it is fun to throw things around and experiment to see what could happen. At the end of the day, the Wild could end up being conservative sellers by the deadline if they stay on this skid!

Each move is further explained below ---
- First off, Boldy needs help, especially down the middle. Toews is perfect because his asking price won't be super high and likely they will retain money. Toews is a great veteran forward that not only will help Boldy on the ice performance but can also serve as a mentor for him as he matures as a young, elite forward.

- Dumba is moved as a cap dump to make these other moves possible. What comes back in return I'm not 100 percent sure, just threw something in there.

- Luke Schenn. Schenn is brought back to replace Dumba and help even more to solidify the D core at a bargain.

-Goligoski goes as he is not happy in MN right now due to playing time, also helps clear cap space. Billy would probably be willing to work with Goose because of his relationship with him. Team doesn't need to be PIT, just a familiar place for Goose and Billy works well with that organization.

- Greenway needs fresh start, Gavrikov comes back 1 for 1.

Massive overpayment on the Boeser deal and we can't afford him.

Gavrikov will get a 1st, Sorry but Greenway isn't worth more than a 3rd rounder at best.

Sure he is. There will be no shortage of teams looking to add a player like that.

He's a 3rd liner, Sorry but 3rd liners don't have that much value.

I think greener carries more value with his contract and he does have good ability. Maybe the wild throw-in a pick too?

Greenway does not fill a need for the Blue Jackets at all. He may need a fresh start, but it won't be with Columbus unless our wing depth suddenly vanishes. The price for Gavrikov has been widely reported as a 1st and a 3rd.

Sure they do. Especially when they're 6'6, good skaters, play defense, have decent offensive instincts and hands and are only 25 years old with two years left at a reasonable AAV.

Depth and size is important, especially for the playoffs. Third liners have value, they're what gets you through the dog days of the playoffs.

That trade can't possibly happen for Ottawa because they have nowhere near enough cap room to sign Dumba next year.

All of those are nice things, but in the end, he's still a winger and thus doesn't have value to Columbus. Seek another destination for him; if you want Gavrikov, the 1st at minimum is non-negotiable and some small add is also necessary.

Didn't say anything about Columbus in either of my posts.

Chi says no. Future low 4th and 5th for Captain Serious with 50% retention? At min its a 2nd for the retention, and at least a 2nd and prospect for Toews. So call it 2023 1st, and 3rd depending on prospect.
