love the move for the Avs, Nieto is a fan favourite here and he fits perfectly in that bottom 6.
Merkley is a roll of the dice, if they get an NHLer out of him, that rules

But can we do the correct lines. Galchenyuk is in the AH

Merkley and Nieto are each probably worth a mid-round pick and it seems we got nothing

does Kaut have any value? 23 and still stuck in the AHL. and MacDonald is a 7th defenseman at best.

I’ve been a Kaut defender. He isn’t flashy, solid all around game, he has a good/bad tendency to play to the level of his linemates and I think that frustrated the Avs because they wanted him to take a spot and force their hand. I still think he has the potential to be a real solid middle 6 guy that can play in all situations.
