Sorokin is in the top half of starting goalies in the NHL in wins. Despite being the only one who has lost more games than he has won, Sorokin is fourth in the NHL in save percentage and fifth in goals against. Trading him would be a HORRIBLE idea for the Islanders.

Barrie has been playing arguably better than mayfield this year so no shot we trade him as a dump

You can have our second plus a prospect for mayfield tho.

they'd trade him if they can't re-sign him this offseason (which is definitely a potential outcome!) since he's a UFA at the close of next year

Sorokin is preventing the isles from bottoming out, it’s a very good idea to trade him

But then you'd have virtually no chance to make the playoffs next season, either, because he's close to the only reason you're anywhere near contending now.

The fact that Sorokin is the only reason the isles are where they are is why I want to trade him. Isles won’t make the playoffs next season, with or without him

florida is way more talented than us and will have the yandle buyout mostly off the books so they can add, i'd be stunned if they weren't a playoff team next year and this team was

I know you want to give Sorokin away but that trade is gross lol

I think Lou's stubborn ass isn't going to sell. You hear him today? He may add/try to swap guys around with other teams but I didn't get seller vibes. Too arrogant for that

How is a mid 1st in a deep draft and an A prospect (Savoie most common comparable is barzal) giving him away??

I can care less what lou says in an interview. He literally spoke about hockey trades over the summer and then didn’t do sh*t. The thing is the isles are going to keep losing so there’s no way they can buy. They’ll be almost mathematically eliminated by the deadline.

If the Isles blow up the team and do a full rebuild then trading a goalie at his highest value , that has one more year on his contract till UFA is the smartest decision.

You're also including a 2023 2nd as well so that's boils down to nothing more than than a maybe 15-20 pick swap in an already deep draft. Trading a top-5 (3?) goalie in the league for that plus Savoie doesn't add up to me. I think you can get more.

I think you’re underrating Savoie. He’s going to be a dynamic 1st liner. The top 20-25 of this draft is the best since 2015. Can you give me an example of a goaltender that went for a package better than this?

Sorokin is preventing the isles from bottoming out. If the goal is to make the playoffs and lose in RD1 (Sorokin is not even good enough to carry them that far) then keep him I guess. If the goal is to win a cup you trade him.
