Take out Klingberg and we can do it

We have no need for a goalie who is just a cap dump to us

Take out Klingberg? He's the only player going... From what I've heard not many teams are interested in him and getting a 2nd rounder plus a 3 pairing RD and a back-up for next year is a pretty good return for a player about to leave via free agency.

We don’t need a backup let alone one that costs 3.5 million and will be coming off injury

Driedger is a cap dump to us hence the take out Klingberg

Anaheim will need a back-up next season unless they sign someone else. Also, they could flip Driedger for more assets to a team looking for goaltending. Another reason to acquire him.

Cap dumps need to happen for some trades to work. It's called math. Also, the worst teams in the league are usually interested in taking on a cap dump for picks/prospects. I don't think Seattle will part ways with any other player who can offset Klingberg's cap on their roster as they are looking to be competitive in the playoffs this year.

Cap dumps that need to happen to make the cap work also need to be pending UFA's or additional compensation is required unless the team WANTS them, even if they are overpriced. Can we slot Drieger in? Maybe, but why take him over resigning Stolarz to half as much, or calling up Dostal. Will we take him if you pay us to? Sure, but a 23 2nd and a prospect is the minimum we would take for Klingberg without having to eat an additional year of someone elses salary. Upgrade Fleury to something we can sink our teeth into or add an additional pick.
