Didn’t think there was a situation where I would want to take on Bobs salary but for that compensation + no more Armia, I would find it difficult to say no.

Based on the market price for bad cap you are easily off by multiple 1st rounders

IMO, it'd make more sense for the Panthers to simply buy out Bob, rather than retain & move assets from their virtually non-existent pool of picks/prospects.

Sure, it only saves the Panthers $3.33 mil over 3 years (and then costs them $1.66 for 3 more), but the idea of him waiving to leave his little tax-haven seems way more far fetched.

Plus, in your situation, the Panthers actually lose cap space, and get worse.

If they do this and buyout armia it would cost 11 million in cap vs 30. They are much better off cap wise

Bob's buyout if done this June: 3 years @ $6.667M, 3 years at $1.667M = $25M in cap penalties over 6 years

Armia's buyout if done this June: $33K/$1.03M/$1.43M/$1.43M
Add the $2M in retention on Bob: $2.033M/$3.03M/$3.43M/$1.43M = $9.925M over 4 years in cap obligations

To me, though, the big thing is over the first 3 years - doing the retention+Armia buyout saves the Panther $4.6M, $3.6M, and $3.2M in cap space. I don't think that extra cap space is worth giving up last year's 1st rounder (and their best U23 prospect) plus a pair of 2nds and a 3rd, especially when they already have $12+M in cap space next year *with* Bobrovsky on the team. They don't need the cap space that desperately that they'll give away that many futures.

Pretty sure the exact same sentence was said last year about Chiarot... At least a 100 time
