We Should Move a LD

Description
now that we have MacDonald, we currently are at EIGHT NHL-caliber Left Defensemen. Vlasic, Ferraro, Megna, Knyzhov, Harrington, Simek, MacDonald, and Cicek (not even including Nutivaara). All but TWO of these guys are signed until next year and Knyzhov is an RFA so assuming he's recovered from his injury fine, we already have SEVEN LD signed for next year. I think we should trade at minimum one, and up to three. We could run next season with Vlasic (assuming no buyout), Ferraro, Knyzhov, and Simek. Cicek and MacDonald can play AHL and be brought up if there's an injury. I haven't watched MacDonald so hard to say and if Cicek starts playing better he could be the 7th defenseman. I like Megna but he could be the odd man out. I like his size and so would other teams, he might be the odd man out as I wouldn't play him over Vlasic, Ferraro, or Knyzhov. I also saw that he was added to Seravalli's trade target list recently. Let me know what y'all think.

My lines for next game after Nieto trade below (w/out Megna)

I mean for only a few 100k in retention I think I would do it, I like the value. The only reason an NHL team might not want to is since you can only retain on three and we’re already retaining Burns. So only one more retention for this year and next, but I would say yes.

It depends on whether the Sharks plan on retooling or going full rebuild. My guess is rebuild, with Meier likely gone by the deadline, Karlsson possibly gone in the summer, and whatever other moving parts get shipped out. With the 2 remaining retention slots for this year, if I’m the Sharks, go scorched earth and sell off as much high prizes as possible without completely destroying the team. Barabanov and Ferraro at half retention would draw quite the haul, or if Hertl is willing to waive, he would bring in possibly the biggest haul of all, at just over 4mil with half retention and signed for long term. Probably shouldn’t trade whoever the LD who compliments Karlsson just to keep EK65 value up as high as possible.

The Rangers would be a good suitor for a 3LD, but I must admit… I’ve never heard of this guy lol

I wouldn’t move megna for that. League minimum deal, 6’6” 220 and having a great year both offensively and defensively. I wouldn’t move him unless they get a 2nd or a 3rd and a prospect

I wouldn't worry too much about LD/RD too much. Yes it's not ideal but these are pros that can play on the opposite side from what is on their bio

probably a 3rd pair defenseman but is playing top pair right now with EK65. good size at 6'6 220. just a reliable defensive-defenseman that can provide a bit of physicality.

I can't complain about having that on my Rangers lol. Basically a 3rd pair Ben Harpur (instead of present-day 7D Ben Harpur)?

not too familiar with Harpur to be honest but he’s definitely a capable 3rd pairing defensive defenseman.
