I’m just curious. How would u rank Savoie, Ostlund, Kulich , Rosen by who’d u rather keep to who you’d more likely trade

We aren’t trading our only physical defenseman for an undersized one and not spending a 2nd on a center who we have plenty of and doesn’t fit the mold of guys Verbeek is trying to bring in

Savoie, Kulich, Rosen, Ostlund

Rosen I think is almost unanimously the guy people are most comfortable moving but I think it’s because he was a reach when drafted, but he probably has the most high end skill set of the prospects, but he needs time because of his size.

Ostlund would probably be the one for me. I think his floor is a strong reliable, third line center, his ceiling is a second line C. I think he’ll be good, but great. The other three have more upside.

I'll second my esteemed friend @GeneralLandro by saying that Benoit for Bryson is not an exchange that favors us, particularly with Mintyukov and Zellweger coming up on that side, and we have other uses for that draft pick.

I would say this is a pretty spot on snapshot of all Sabres fans thoughts on the four. It isn’t far fetched to think Kulich-Savoie-Rosen is their third line in three years.

That’s not taking away anything from Noah Ostlund either. I think he is also a very solid prospect.

Sounds like Krebs is running out of room as well

Krebs is really interesting. He definitely has upside and I think his vision/passing is his best trait, but he’s been their fourth line center and somehow turned into a grinder and spark guy. He keeps putting his nose in against bigger guys and isn’t afraid of anyone and the team and fans love it. I think he sticks long term but might be like Tyson Jost (who the Sabres also have).

I don’t see San Jose moving Sturm too. Not sure I want Savoie either, he’s small and really a boom or bust.

Out of those 4 I think I’d rank them (most coveted to least coveted)

1. Kulich- 18yrs old and already in the AHL and plays a very mature game.

2. Savoie- has slipped in his raw #’s this year, but is a top end talent that can add an element the Sabres could use long term.

3. Rosen- Potential Olofsson replacement long term imo.

4. Ostlund- smart heady player but might I just don’t see him being a big time player.

I wouldn’t say that necessarily. Early in season they wanted to give Cozens and Mittelstadt opportunities at center behind the Thompson line, both being older, more established, but still young players. Cozens took his opportunity and ran, Mittelstadt foundered s bit, but found success with Olofsson when paired with Jost off of waivers…
Inevitably this left Krebs “stuck” centering Girgensons & Okposo. But I really believe this has allowed Krebs’ game to really develop. He can carry the puck but has not become adept in a dump & chase style. He can play with less offensive players and play more of a 200ft game… and he’s developed a REAL feistiness that a young team like this needs. He gets out there and likes to stir the pot and seems to have the respect of a lot of the other players for how he handled that situation.

On the roster right now, my long term keepers at forward are:
Skinner-Thompson-Tuch
Peterka-Cozens-Quinn
Krebs

He’s a long term top-9 forward who I believe will get a decent but not over the top 2nd contract and will be able to fit in long term.

Krebs will be the long term replacement for Casey Mittelstadt to me. And he’s a more ideal two way center. But right now, the Mittelstadt-Olafsson-Jost line and the top line have tremendous chemistry. It’s hard to break them up and move up Krebs

Spot on. The different style Krebs has picked up from playing with those 2 is going to pay dividends in the future, and I don't think he's the guy to lose confidence in his playmaking skills along the way. Going to be interesting how his next contract plays out in this conversation
