Montreal was looking for a C pretty hard there. If they didn't take Kotkaniemi, then next C off the board was Hayton

Which is Exhibit A why drafting for a position is the dumbest thing you can do.

And you know the irony of this? Brady Tkachuk has taken more faceoffs this year than Kotkaniemi.

It was no secret the Habs wanted a Center in that draft. Kotkaniemi was a reach for this reason. Ottawa was always going to take Tkachuk unless Dahlin really fell which was never going to happen. I think the draft went exactly the way teams wanted it. I think at the draft the top 5 teams got exactly the player they wanted.
