Yo, I know Dumba's a solid d-man, but come on now, trading away Puljujarvi for him would be a mistake. Puljujarvi's still young and has so much potential, and we've already seen what he can do in the league. Plus, we've got a decent amount of d-men as it is, we don't need to give up a forward for another one. And let's not forget, Puljujarvi is a big boy at 6'4" and 210lbs, he brings size and physicality to the game, something we could always use more of. Trading him away just to get Dumba seems like a short-sighted move to me.

He’s had so many opportunities to prove him being of value big he has shown nothing he’s not a good player and won’t end up being that good the oilers need to make a move for a shutdown guy like dumba cause their defense is awful atm

Dumba is the exact opposite of a shutdown guy

None of this is true. I think you are confusing him for Brodin. This would be a dreadful deal for Edmonton. Wild would say yes in a second.

Why would a team trade a top 4 d man for a mid round pick swap a year from now?

I hate when other team’s fans try to act like they know about a player when they clearly don’t. Dumba is 100% a two way dman these days. He had to adapt after tearing his pec hurt his offensive output a few years ago. His 5v5 GA/60 is currently #22 amongst dmen with at least 200 minutes played. Almost identical to Brodin’s GA/60 (#20 in the league).

What’s even more interesting, when I look at the line tool on natural stat trick I get these numbers 5v5:

    Dumba w/ Brodin: 1.38 GA/60
    Dumba w/o Brodin: 2.38 GA/60

    Brodin w/ Dumba: 1.38 GA/60
    Brodin w/o Dumba: 2.67 GA/60

Now that could be because Addison is trash in the d zone and Brodin played with him for a bit.

I’m just sick of the stupid notion that Dumba is bad defensively.

When you look at the defensive pair numbers

    Better GA/60:
    Brodin-Dumba > Brodin-Spurgeon > Brodin-Addison

    Middleton-Dumba > Middleton-Spurgeon

    Merrill-Dumba > Merrill-Addison

    Goligoski-Dumba > Goligoski-Spurgeon

When Dumba is on the pairing, the pairing always has better GA/60 numbers than without him…

As for the proposal. I have no interest in Pulj as a player. I’d do Dumba at 50% for a 1st or I would keep him if a 1st isn’t an option.

Lol buddy if you are going to use natural stat trick as the citation for your argument, then I beg you, at least look more in-depth at the numbers. Maybe don't cite high variance numbers like GA. There are so many better context numbers that give you a whole picture on a player. Numbers that provide real process. Go see what those numbers say about him.

And of course, you could just watch the guy. Still gives up more than he creates. Bad recipe for a dman. And really goes without saying- not even close for a shutdown guy.

That package may get you Barbashev if you take out the 4th and Acciari. But I’d venture to guess Barbashev is worth a little more than a 2nd and a dump with full retention.

Lol imagine spending actual time watching your team and the games and not understanding that Dumba is dreadful. And then actually trying to use the numbers for a guy who's infamous for having poor rate numbers to help your argument. Got to be tough bud- seeing how many hours you have wasted not understanding your team and the game.
