PLD isn't an unrestricted free agent so it makes no sense to be trading Caufield (now/off-season) to "make room" for him especially without acquiring PLD. If they are going to trade Caufield to make room for Dubois, then they might as well deal him to Winnipeg. That being said, trading Caufield to make roomfor PLD is unnecessary. They can have both.

That's a possibility assuming Anaheim is even willing to give that pick up which I highly doubt. PLD signing a long-term extension in WPG or somewhere else this offseason is also a possibility, so, unless the motivation behind the Anaheim trade is acquiring Nathan Gaucher, I don't see why you wouldn't propose a direct trade. Kind of odd to not include a PLD trade here considering the title and the fact that he's not a ufa. Of course if he, Caufield, or Anaheim's 2023 1st get dealt, it won't be until the off-season.
