St Louis needs a guy who plays hard every game, but that's not a contract people are gonna want.

Tarasenko doesn't play D, Gallant would have him playing with Brodzinski after 2 weeks

So every other guy in the top 12 of his draft has played over 100 more games than him. He also has only 10 career points. Then next lowest in the top 12 of his draft is 48. I think we can call him a bust by now and if you can't you're delusional or just in denial.

If you want to avoid pursuing big name players, and instead focus on plugging in less expensive options (Kulikov, Nyquist, etc), that's fine.

But you can't then offer a proposal for a big name player, for much less than their market value, just because you want them at 50 cents on the dollar.

The absolute smallest package that could land Tarasenko, as is, would be Kravtsov and a 2023 1st. Substituting Goodrow's lengthy Contract in there, with no 1st Rounder at all, is by no means a justifiable replacement.

Goodrow was brought in for playoff hockey. He's not being moved at the deadline.

St. Louis isn't trading Tarasenko for that package, especially not with retention.

Any package from the Rangers for Tarasenko starts with a 2023 1st (assuming St. Louis is out of the playoff picture).

You're right. TOI, deployment, context is not important, just give him away.
