Description
Before anyone comes for my throat... Is any of this realistic? No. Obviously not. It's just fun to see that it's possible. I might be incorrectly gauging the value of both Horvat and Terry, but I do think I'm at least in the right ballpark.
Trades
1.
EDM
  1. Horvat, Bo ($2,750,000 retained)
  2. 2024 5th round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
Rumoured asking price for Horvat is 3 young players, one of which being a top prospect. Bourgault is a good prospect with solid potential. Puljujarvi is an RFA so Vancouver doesn't need to worry about losing him, and he is a serviceable 3rd liner with upside to improve offensively. I'm not sure Vancouver gets an offer better than this unless a contending team is ready to commit to a costly long term contract with Horvat.
VAN
  1. Bourgault, Xavier
  2. Puljujärvi, Jesse
  3. 2023 2nd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
Going all in here
2.
EDM
  1. Terry, Troy ($420,911 retained)
Additional Details:
If we look at what the Blackhawks got for DeBrincat last off-season, this is definitely a fair price for Terry. In my opinion, Anaheim should be looking to trade Terry because his value is as high as it will ever be, and the ducks, at best, will be in contention when Terry is 29/30 years old making 6 million + per season.
ANA
  1. Foegele, Warren
  2. 2023 1st round pick (EDM)
  3. 2024 2nd round pick (EDM)
  4. 2024 5th round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
This is Ken Holland saying "f**K a dman gimme more offence" and assembling what could very well be the most despicable top 9 the NHL has seen in the salary cap era. No idea what the oilers do with Terry in the off-season, but Ken Holland always has a plan so he'd figure it out.

As a fellow Oilers fan, I'll keep this brief:

1.) Horvat goes nowhere without a '23 1st going back.
2.) Terry goes nowhere. Even if he did, ANA would be looking for the Hagel return (2 1sts + two young roster players) plus some extra.

I could see Horvat being traded, but I think the canucks will receive a much better offer than that if they're retaining half. I don't follow your reasoning as to why the ducks would trade Terry, unless they were given an offer that they win by a landslide. Which this one is heavily favored for the Oilers.

No shot Ducks trade Terry and he will get over 7.5 million not 6

You think it will take us 5 years to compete?? Lol

Also the DeBrincat trade was 7OA for the 1st, not a late 1st so that’s a poor try for an example

It's funny to try and even compare the return for Alex Debrincat: 7 OA + 39 OA+2023 3rd to Troy Terry (currently with your proposal): 22 OA+2024 2nd+2024 5th+Cap dump Foegele, when it'd essentially be the late 2nd to dump Foegele, so the end return is a mid-late 1st+5th. There's just absolutely no reason for Anaheim to do this, especially with a division rival.

Not even in the same universe of value for Terry tears of joy

especially in division, missing multiple firsts in value here. Not to mention Terry is untouchable

Rebuilding teams that intend to GET BETTER don't trade players like Troy Terry. They keep them and build around them. Chicago traded DeBrincat because they actively wanted to GET WORSE to tank the season following that trade.

Might as well make it a unanimous quintet. Replace Foegele with Bouchard and the fifth with another second and that might be enough. But I doubt it.

You're also ignoring the fact that DeBrincat is running 6+ mil against the cap, whereas Terry is 1.5, and you want him retained down to 1, and his RFA rights are intact. Terry isn't quite the player that Debribcat is, admittedly, but at 1/6 the cap hit, I'd argue he should command a higher trade value.
