So according to LeBrun, Montreal already turned down a 1st round pick for Anderson. If they turned down a 1st then this is not enough to entice them as it is missing the 1st

LeBrun doesn't know anything. He's a writer who's been deemed an "Insider" by TSN. Worst source you could cite.

I wouldn’t expect NJ to give up anything of value for Josh Anderson. Just not the right team to expect that from.

Why would anyone give up an asset for Josh Anderson?

They turned down a 1st even before this season where now he has more value because he elevated his 200ft game to a new level

Then why trade #11 pick for three picks? Read what Grier said after the draft. He clearly wanted quantity over quality then.

Nothing suggests Devils are interested in Anderson.

But if Kent turned down a 1st for him, why aren’t Habs fans rioting?

LeBrun only said MTL turned down SERIOUS offer for Anderson last TDL, that doesn't mean a 1st round pick was involved ...

Because that draft sucked and he wanted more assets. Meier isnt going to be moved without a blue chip prospect, sorry.

I never said the Devils were interested (although it has been reported and the Devils have been scouting the Habs heavily all season) all I did was comment on the trade offer.

The Habs have no reason to trade Anderson and his value is similar of that which Mantha got, so unless they get that type of deal (or better) then they won't move him. We don't need cap space and Anderson is a unique player type.

They essentially traded Connor Geekie for Bystedt, Cam Lund and Matthias Havelid. Sharks win that trade all day and twice on Sunday.

Timo Meier is a completely different story. Bonafide top power forward in the league, will score 30-40 goals a season. Meier has more goals than sharangovich has points, I think devils need to be giving up a better prospect in this deal by a bit

Thats a quick way to further discredit yourself.

Anderson isnt going any where for peanuts. The "who would pay for him and his overpaid contract" argument has no traction either. He's on pace to do exactly what he is paid to do, score 20+ goals, and play a solid 200 foot game, which has been improving lately, kill penalties and put pressure on opposing d with his forechecking.

For what he brings on a young team and the typical demand around the league for powerforward i would have no issue believing Hughes turned down a late first for him. Also worth noting that at no point was it said it was a 2023 first.

I have watched Cam Lund in a few games this year. Looking like one of the better picks of the draft. I think I had Geekie as a borderline 1st/2nd at draft time. All the Winnipeg guys were a bit frothy. So I am with you it being a good deal for San Jose.

I am just responding to the notion that Grier wants quality over quantity, when this deal, and especially his comments afterward suggest the opposite. I doubt, honestly, he has a rule either way.

D'Amico is not the only one reporting it though, here is a link where Rob Couch is ticked off the Habs did not accept it. So that is 2 authors on 2 different sites reporting that the Habs turned down a 1st.

When Lund was drafted most sharks fans were saying “who” but he looked like the best prospect in their prospect scrimmage before the season started.

I think Grier has to get a quality return here when looking at what he would be giving up. Some of his recent comments make me think it will take a lot for him to move Meier and move him with an extension. Similar to Karlsson to which he says he doesn’t have to move this top player, Meier could sign long term and be on the top line for the next 6-8 years. I just don’t see the org signing Hertl long term to just sell an even younger and more prolific scorer the next year. Different GM since that signing but I would have to think he got the job knowing that was the plan.

I just don’t know what Grier is going to do until it happens lol and how his trades have gone, other than the pic swap, have been very underwhelming.

You know that is not true.

Mantha 2018-21
GAR +16.8
PPG 0.70
Contract 3 x $5.7m

Anderson 2020-2023
GAR –6.8
PPG 0.43
Contract: 5 x $5.5m

Of the 203 forwards in NHL that have played at least 2000 minutes since Anderson arrived in Montreal, he ranks #201 in GAR.

Anderson is a highly negative asset....and is not getting 1st round pick offers...unless its from Montreal to move him.

Sure he is, that is why he is getting offers of a 1st round pick. I think you just hate the player and are not happy your team is one of the ones reportedly most interested in Anderson. Look until you end up in an executive office of an NHL team as the acting GM, I think I will take the word of the guys paid to have inside sources!

They don't have inside sources. You can't actually beleive the **** guys like LeBrun and Dreger spew out. Pathetic stuff.

Dreger is the king of phrases like: "we'll just have to wait and see what happens" and "let's give it a few months to the deadline, and then see how it plays out." He isn't an insider, he has no idea what he's talking about, just goes in circles.
Lebrun is a journalist, he's a writer and started off in newspapers. He doesn't have any inside scoop. He's a speculative writer.
