Description
I do not see this happening but this is what would have to happen to get it done.

Bergeron comes back for the 100 year season of the Boston Bruins in the NHL.

Bruins sign Horvat in the offseason, although he probably gets more on the open market.

Boston dumps cap and acquires depth at the trade deadline in order to reduce cap overages, although not by a lot.

The teams and returns don't matter so much as the point of those are the players that they would have to get rid in order to make both Horvat and Pasta fit. They will not get rid of Carlo or Coyle as the Bruins value them too much in their positions.

These moves make the 3rd forward line and 3rd pairing D pretty iffy. I don't know if Merlulov is ready for full time NHL duty. Zboril is a tweener and Schenn is Schenn.

The 4th line is arguably better than this years.

I don't think this is in the Yzerplan, but I was just looking for a bubble team that would want a Hall to put them over the top into playoff contention.

For the Canucks trade, Vancouver is trying to shed cap not add it especially for a third. They are rumoured to be able to get a 2nd for shenn on this market by himself.

I think this exemplifies the challenge for a good team to acquire and re-sign Horvat. The only way you’re able to get remotely under the cap and ice a good roster is to have a key player (Bergeron) on an absolute sweetheart deal. And even then, you have a few weak spots with depth and Pasta could get more than $10.5M

For most other teams, you won’t be able to get a 1 and 2C for under $10M.

Agreed. Seriously hurting the depth of the team where Zacha could center Hall and Pasta and add 1 or 2 middle six wings.

I do think Bergeron wants to come back, win the cup or not, if only to be on the 100 year team.

I just wanted to see what it would take to make it work.

Horvat has been a 60 point center who is poor defensively. Not sure why Boston, or anyone, would shake up their roster to sign him.

Detroit will accept a 3rd to retain on Horvat from TDL til end of playoffs, then will send you a 2nd to acquire Horvat's signing rights. Deal?

No way Detroit does this. You can have t.n. for hall but not the 2nds.

Let's just say there's no trade. Hall is still a player.

The only way Horvat is an option is if Pasta doesn't sign with the Bruins.
