Couldn’t the islanders just take back a small contract instead? I’d prefer to avoid retention even if I like the return.

would force us to either only keep one of the proposed healthy scratches or waive one of them, so not really unless we were to skip schenn

plus part of the reason i was willing to give the first was because of the retention to a more reasonable cap hit

Vancouver rejected a 2nd round pick for Schenn. What makes you think they'd take a third plus Adam freakin Gaudette

It’s such a small difference that I don’t get why you are hung up on it at all tho

because look at the math on this post what happens to our cap space if we add 650K

answer: over the cap, unless we waive Timmins or Schenn who 100% guaranteed get claimed

Schenn is a UFA. Regardless I’m sure NY would like to keep a retention spot open. By no means is this a deal breaker tho.

I’d be willing to retain 50% for a prospect like Minten or even Hirovanen I’d ur getting a first. I don’t expect Toronto is open to that tho.
