The most realistic deadline done well

Created by: FilthyMitts05
Team: 2022-23 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 27, 2023
Published: Jan. 27, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I put the salary cap at 85 million to sim the effect of having an additional 2.5 retained by Arizona

With Devon Shore in Bakersfeild we have about 1.4 million to trade for a defensman and my pick here is going to be Gavrikov half retained for a heftier price tag than Toews.

Im choosing to run an 11-7 lineup here because we have too many defensman now lol. I was thinking a Nurse - Ceci pairing works so we should keep that. I think Gavrikov - Kulak could work out nicely as well. Shut down pairing. Bouchard and Broberg pairing hasn't been bad and I want to see more of it. Barrie could run the powerplay and then play in for guys who need a break or a pairing that isn't working.

If Yamamoto is returning before the playoffs we may need to make a small move or put someone on waivers.
Trades
1.
EDM
  1. Toews, Jonathan ($5,250,000 retained)

  2. 2023 2nd round pick (EDM)
2.

    Additional Details:
I want to hear from a Columbus fan or at least someone who knows a decent amount about the Jackets on what else would they want or do they have any prospect needs. I want to pair the 1st with something Columbus actually wants/needs instead of just a random peice for 50% retention on Vladdy.

It'll really just depend on what the competitive offers are on Gavy. A 1st and 3rd is the ask, but we'll just have to wait and see what kinda competition there is for him come the TDL.

I agree. To be honest, I'd be satisfied with just a first. The org has so many prospects and bodies at this point that I don't know that they'd even want a contract back, and I'm not going to quibble about late picks.

More AHL guys can't hurt. With how damn injury prone the Jackets are it's always good to have guys available that can work as call ups.

I’d consider a Puljujarvi as part of the return with Gavrikov, maybe it’s Gavrikov end Bemstrom for a 1st and Puljujarvi.

That being said it could be a last chance for both Bemstrom and Puljujarvi to stick in the NHL and it gives EDM some extra cap room.
