Description
I absolutely think we should hold on to all of our 1sts this deadline. If we decide to trade our 1sts though, this is the player I'd want to trade them for. Insane speed and instant boost to our top 6, which in turn helps our bottom 6.

Do we know that for sure? Apparently contract talks haven't been great so far

Larkin would need to slap Yzerman's momma in the face and insult her lasagna for things to fall apart... this "contention" is 100% a negotiation tactic both ways. Larkin's agent is Brisson and Yzerman is a tough negotiator as well. When Yzerman was in Tampa, Stamkos went all the way to within 3 days of UFA, but they still got a deal done. Yzerman is not going to show his hand and Larkin (rightfully so) wants the most money he can get WITH the Wings. If push comes to shove and Yzerman presents a final offer that risks him actually going to UFA, Larkin will sign it before he walks. I am not concerned in the slightest about a deal being worked out.

I think he will re-sign with you guys, but I wouldn't say its 100%. What about Bertuzzi?

Bertuzzi I think is definitely on the block and his value has definitely dropped, but I don't see Yzerman moving him until the deadline, to give him a chance to get back up to speed and raise his value. He looked pretty good last night. There has been some rumors that Bertuzzi might sign a 1 year extension with Detroit to raise his stock, as opposed to going into UFA coming off a freak injury season.

You can keep your firsts as that wouldn't be enough for Larkin anyways.

Larkin isn't leaving. He's a Michigan kid and they're still talking it's just taking time, he's not going anywhere. Buffalo doesn't want/need Rutta. Rutta would be a better fit for a contender imo that is looking to add Defensive depth.

lol, 2 firsts would absolutely be enough, and depending what else is in the trade (not saying this particular one) maybe too much. Larkin is a really good player, but lets not act like he's worth a blockbuster trade for a rental (yeah i know increased potential to sign).

If Larkin gets delt I hope this gets out bid. The 1sts are nice and I like blueger but nothing here really gets me excited.

With Bertuzzi I don't think anyone knows his trade value is at it lowest point ever and no one is going to give him the money he was expecting after last season. My guess is he signs a season or 2 with Detroit ad hopes next goes better for him. But since Yzerman plays it so close to the vest I don't think anyone can say what is going to happen.

If he were to be traded right now what's his worth?

Because of his season so far, not as much as he was last year, but Yzerman is a savvy GM and he is not going to trade eplayer when his value is at the lowest, so thinking you could get him cheap, well that would be wrong. Supposedly his agent and Yzerman are talking, and the short term contract is what they are talking about.

You could get Horvat for this. Larkin wants to stay, Horvat wants to go.

Detroit have no reason to trade Bert on the cheap, he would cost the same as he would cost last year or he will simply be resigned.

1st in '23 + Hållander and Nylander is about where it would land.

Now, let's talk about that Chiarot for Pettersson deal...

I think that's the kind of deal GM Adams will make at the deadline, if he makes any at all. After watching the group they have in action at Winnepeg Thurs night, complete with a reserve d-man (Clague) playing extremely well next to Dahlin in a top-pairing role (which is way above Clague's pay-grade,) am wondering if Adams stays pat with the seven he has. I'd prefer a little veteran depth for a playoff push and have always been a fan of Rutta but had forgotten about him as of late. Thx for bringing his name up.

For a 4th rounder [or less ; ) ]? Done deal, imo.

Because I dont think one trade would fix this team. It's just not a cup contender as is and it would take drastic moves to make it that. Better to hold onto our 1sts.
