Description
Trade Larkin at the deadline and overpay him to come back in the offseason. Gives us a legitimate shot at the cup next year with Larkin, horvat, copp and Kasper down the middle with lethal shooters like Pasta and a rehabbed Vrana on the wing, plus our high 23 first ready to come up for the playoffs. Trade Vrana, Bertuzzi, Perron, Kubalik and Hronek at the 24 deadline to make room for Seider, Raymond, Rasmussen, Berggren and Durzi raises. 23 first pick and guys like Lombardi and James and Savage should be ready to step up by then

"I'll take 'Things Stevie Y would never do' for $1,000 Alex."

Horvat's year is not sustainable, Yzerman doesn't overpay for players, ever (See Stamkos in Tampa). I don't think there's a chance any of this happens.

I mean if colorado landed larkin in a trade i'm sure they would make the cap work the next season by moving some other players

Kings decline. Chiarot is nothing of interest and the Kings have no need for any more forwards.

Of that list the two true overpays I see are Johnson and Gourde.

Kings need LDs and Wings need RDs. Natural trade partners. The chances of something happening are significantly higher than you think.

Hard to see how they could realistically without utterly gutting the team. You pretty much guarantee you lost Girard, EJ, E-Rod, JTC for starters plus probably Toews the next year. I'd rather have a team than Larkin as much as I rate him very highly. It's arguably worse than a Horvat scenario for the Avs.

That's why I paid him $13m. To get him to come here while we have cap space to spare. Trade lesser players when the time comes to sign our young core.

The only way LA considers taking on Chiarot is if Detroit retains at least $1.75M. At that point, I'd do Chiarot + 2nd for Durzi. Detroit can keep Zadina.
