PLD vs Drury + CAR 2023 1st + a 2nd tier prospect is more realistic

The Jets aren’t trading him this season … and CAR wouldn’t pay the price to acquire PLD for two years IMO

No chance the Jets trade PLD before the summer.

Horvat has no reason to sign an extension at this point of the season and why would he sign in Winnipeg when he can choose anywhere.

This seems like a pretty interesting solution to all 3 teams problems (Car needs a 2C, Wpg needs a player who wants to be there, and Van needs futures).

This isn’t true, it would take a lot. The main issue here is that PLD would be one of the worst targets the Canes could make from a long term perspective.

Im trying to hate this Carolina deal. But it seems okay.

To make the cap work and improve at the deadline in other places could we interest you in Teuvo, Drury and picks? Im assuming an extension is in place.

Why would WPG and CAR not have a shared issue here? You think he is going to stay in Carolina? PLD is gone after his contract is up. Not a target for the Canes full stop

This is complete delusion. PLD is already going to leave Winnipeg as soon as he can to go to Montreal, why would he change his mind on a different team? The best return PLD might get is from Montreal that is similar to what Giroux got.

Canes decline bc it's well known Dubois is heading to Montreals as soon as he possibly can. Drop the price and have him as a rental for 1-2 years, maybe? But even then the Jets would be better off just qualifying him and sending off his rights to MTL.

If PLD really wants to play in MTL, why would the Habs trade anything for him ? The Jets will just sign him to another one year deal this summer and they will have the option to trade him at the 2024 TDL or keep him as a rental. If PLD doesn’t sign in MTL in 2024, it’s because he never really wanted to play here

Well if he played two years in a desirable place to live, won a bunch of games (possibly deep playoff run) and made some buds - maybe he'd want to stay. He's got two years before he can walk. Morrow could have two good years in his whole career, who knows. The Canes are a great team now, if I was going after a cup I'd want to load up.

That price is too steep for a hope and a prayer

PLD would be a significant add. Much more than a hope and a prayer... I get the love for Morrow but it doesn't touch a first. PLD easily gets that for at least two playoff runs for the Canes.

I'm sure that would be interesting to the Jets. Just throwing out different stuff. But Bo is gone anyway lol

The hope and the prayer part was on the basis of PLD being a long time Canes player. He’s never came across as the Hurricanes type back to the Columbus days.
