LA hasn't thrown in the towel on Petersen, he'd be up if the Kings wouldn't lose the cap space and Copley.

Besides they wouldn't give up a 1st to get a goalie who was also struggling this season and has a long contract.

The Kings will not trade their 2023 1st round pick.

They need a LHD more than they need a goaltender.

I don't think the Kings would do this.

Absolutely not. In general, a goalie with a questionable immediate history isn't worth the gamble of a first-round pick, and we have better plans for our 2023 first in particular, especially having traded away our 2022 first. We certainly wouldn't add Grans and Petersen in there, particularly because Petersen would provide insurance against Demko staying bad and there's just as much chance of his "righting the ship" as Demko's.

putting him on waiver his the definition of throwing the towel on him from my perspective. But i do nit think they should do this trade at all

Petersen's numbers weren't far off from Demko, what does that tell you?

he did not play for the kings so i think it would be a weird thing to say that the king gave up on him.
