Perron is already on a great contract before the retention. If you want David Perron for 2 years at less then 3m aav you are starting the conversation with a first. A late second and Yams isn’t very enticing

EZ no by all teams.

EDM prolly deserves to be taxed on any trade this year that fixes their awful contract management mess.

They seem to highly value Brober who has added nothing this year. Chych had more points by his age than Perron has this year + last year.

So effectively Chychrun for Bouchard and a middle 1st. A cap dump and Benson (who is he?) gets a 3rd. There's probably 20 other teams in the league that can offer a much better package.

Just cause a defenceman doesn't have that many points doesn't mean he isnt good not to mention chychrun is offense first broberg isn't

Since December 30th, among all players with 125 minutes at 5v5 in the entire league, Broberg ranks

- 2nd for CF%
- 1st for SF%
- 12th for GF%
- 1st for xGF%
- 1st for SCF%
- 1st for HDCF%

Among 482 players.

LOL I wonder if his 62+% OZ starts has something to do with that tiny sample size or if playing exclusively with Bouchard and a stacked forward team has something to do with that, yet he has almost no production himself awesome face

Really makes you wonder who of the 5 on ice is driving the offense and why you would wanna trade him if he's so awesome?

He's literally replacement level due to his contribution to the other 4 on the ice.

I DON'T want to trade him - that's the point. He's breaking out in the middle of his rookie season before our very eyes, I think it would be very stupid to move him now. Fortunately, so does Ken Holland.

If you looked a little deeper into his stats, you'd see that he rarely plays with McDavid or Draisaitl, so that's definitely not the force behind his current success. Besides, he's posting BETTER underlying stats than either of them right now.

As for your assertion that he's a product of Bouchard, once again the facts prove you wrong: Broberg generally posts better numbers away from Bouchard (both offensive and defensive metrics) than with him.

50 vs 225 TOI difference... c'mon dude.

Maybe look at QOC and the underlying metrics without production becomes startling.

He doesn't hit, doesn't force takeaways, does give up the puck, doesn't play vs top comp, does play on a team where the OPP is chasing McJesus 25 mins, which is twice his TOI.

He may be amazing one day, this year ain't it.

Huh? What does TOI matter? The fact is that Broberg has been better away from Bouchard - proving your theory wrong that he owes his strong underlying numbers to him. QOC is pretty much the same - both players have been playing 3rd pairing comp whether together or apart.

He's 2nd among Oilers defensemen for takeaways/60 and mid-pack for giveaways. You should really look at the stats.

He's a ROOKIE who is showing very good growth month-over-month. Not many defensemen wreck the league at just 21, but his poise and defensive reads are mature already, he's turning the play up ice consistently and the numbers reflect that. And he's doing it for less than $1M this year and next. And since that's exactly the type of contract the Oilers need on their roster, he's not getting pushed off the roster and he's not getting traded.
