i only put retention because thought i saw somewhere theirs talks about buying him out. so with the 2m in retention it would be 200k more then the buyout and they get picks. theirs also no one with term that leaf's would trade.

I think they will buy out OEL since he's unmovable since he won't waive his NMC it seems, so would be surprised if they bought-out Garland as well or retained on him. Boeser is probably in more of a need for a trade, and that would likely require retention.

As for the McCabe trade, I think the Leafs need a little more in the form of a rental foward in that deal for it to be worth it. Save them from having to make the Garland trade which I don't think would happen as proposed.

No shot theyre gonna buy him out, he isnt a candidate, the only guys they would look at buy outs for would be OEL (Still too pricey), Poolman (injured), Pearson (also injured)
