Neither Buffalo or SJ does that trade. Dahlin is RD to Samuelsson and they have been an extremely solid pair and will be for years to come. The Sabres don't need a one dimensional offensive Dman either. Drop Salo and Savoie from the NYI trade and I'd do it. Sabres have plenty of LD prospects that have a higher ceiling than Salo and Savoie is well overkill.

Savoie is definitely not ”overkill”, Sorokin is the best goaltender in the league… Sabres 1st will probably be 16-23 or something too..

It would show stunning ineptitude on Lou’s part to trade the 13th pick for Soroky’s bestie Romanov and then be forced to deal Sorokin the following summer. I wouldn’t be shocked if there is already a deal in place to keep him.

Worst thing you could do in business is to double-down on your mistakes lol.. Lou should trade Sorokin now for this kind of return.

But I wouldn’t be surprised if Lou signs him to 8x8.5 in the summer, most likely scenario tbh

I don’t know that resigning Sorokin should be characterized as a “mistake” tbh. I think when you have a good d core, good goaltending and at the very least an average group of centers than you aren’t that far away from contending. They just need to add a Timo Meier type player and idk if Lou can stomach the price.

Buffalo declines both trades, a lot of future to give up and we don't need to spend 9m a year on a goalie.

Well, at least the Detroit trade is good, right? Seriously, we don't need Karlsson, and sorokin is one of the few goalies I would move something meaningful for (vasilevski, sorokin, shesterkin, hellybuck, and probably oetinger being the whole and complete and ridiculous to spell list). Having said that, the sorokin trade is a bridge too far for me. It's too much to give up, and I don't wanna pay goalies that much for that long. Hard no.

a 1st and one of the best goalie prospects in the league is enough. If not they just hang on to Levi. They don't need Sorokin, UPL has developed well, so theirs no need to overpay and then spend a ton of cap space on a goalie

I'd do the Detroit trade at this point.

Then if that's the case you keep him and We'll keep Sorokin...

No it’s not enough, a middle 1st rounder and ”the best goalie prospect” which can change rather quickly when it comes to goalies.. Sorokin IS the best goalie in the world atm, Levi’s probability to become even close is very, very small - and if he is going to be a good or great goaltender, it’s years from now… you overrate prospects vs superstars right now. Without Sorokin, Isles would be last in the league.

”They don’t need Sorokin” is also a very bold statement coming from a fan of a team having Craig Anderson, Eric Comrie and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen as your goalies lol.
