The isles who are about to enter a rebuild are not trading a 1st rd pick when they don’t need the cap space

Come on...... Why the hell would the isles do this?? We are sellers, are going to be retooling, not moving picks to unload Bailey. He's got 1 more year, we can just stick him in the minors or buy him out worst case.

I doubt they rebuild..they just gave up the 13th overall pick for Romanov. I think they wait to see what Sorokin does

Lou will not be the GM of the isles past this season. You’re also ignoring that the isles have plenty of cap space because this is a move you want to see happen depsite it not being realistic

That is irrelevant. They actually don’t have a choice whether they are going to rebuild. They are being forced into it. Sorokin isn’t re-Signing so they’ll likely trade him this offseason

Yep what do you know here’s @db1899 just making sh*t up and presenting them as fact when he has no basis for it whatsoever. Glad to see nothings changed.

So you’re trying to tell me 2 years of Andrew Ladd at 5.5 in the biggest cap crunch in nhl history costs less to move than 1 year of Josh Bailey when NYI has cap space????????

The isles are going to offer him a contract this offseason, like they did with pulock and Barzal. Sorokin most likely won't sign it and theyll have to trade him. Keep up man!

Just bc he won’t sign an extension a year early doesn’t mean he won’t re-sign. That’s a backwards ass way of looking at things.

players who decline extensions a year away from UFA usually do not sign with that team. And with the state of the isles having the worst forward core in the NHL, they are better off trading him. Isles are cooked.

Really what are the statistics of that? Or is that like practically everything else you write just pure conjecture and in this case almost surely false.
As for isles being better off trading him you’re never better off when you trade a top 3 player at their position.

Sorokin is a top 2 player at the position, youre missing the point. Isles have one of the worst rosters in the NHL and it’s only going to get worse when Lee and Nelson decline. The isles have very little chance of making the playoffs with Sorokin - assuming he cares about winning, then he will sign with another team

Yes a little but there's no way I can see them beating out at least three of the Panthers, Penguins, Caps and Sabres for the 8th seed.
If Lou isn't flipping Horvat to some other team with retention for a higher return, this Horvat trade will likely go down as a disaster of a move for the Islanders.

Lmao 1st of all Lou isn’t moving horvat he’s gonna extend him. 2nd I’m sorry you can’t see that happening. Fortunately for NYI what you can or can’t see is irrelevant. Also I doubt Lou is done adding.
